I am happy to say that there is a new bridge opening in a couple of weeks and although we will have to pay a toll to cross there will be no more waits like these.
Many people are sad to see the ferries stop running but not me. I would drive around many miles to get across rather than sit in that lineup. Soon it will be a 2 minute crossing.
As the evening progressed the sun was setting and I couldn't think of a better place to be to have dinner with my coffee group.
Beautiful river setting for a coffee club - - - or any other dinner!!!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of a British sit com we LOVE called "Keeping Up Appearances." Hortense, the lady lead in the saga invited her friends to a "Riparian" Dinner - - - which of course meant riverside picnic.
What a lovely place to meet!
ReplyDeleteWhich side do you live on Lucy?
ReplyDeleteI live on the wrong side Lucy.
ReplyDeleteActually I am on the same side as the restaurant.
Delightful photos. I agree about the waits....give me a bridge that gets me there quicker. I have no patience for long lines. Your photo and dinner on a river reminds me of two meals we took on vacationlast summer. Our restaurant was on a lake, not a river....but water is water....and when the sun sets the reflection on the water is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely setting for a restaurant. Our last house was right on a river, and I do miss being able to sit behind the house and watch the water, the swans, the geese, the canoes, and the big gawky cranes. . . but I don't miss those times when the river got too big for its britches and decided it had to go into our backyard and then into our cellar. :-P
ReplyDeleteI have to confess to loving ferry rides, but I sure can understand the lure of the convenience of a bridge when there is such a wait for ferry-ing!
Enjoy your bridge when it opens! Will you spend the first day just driving back and forth for fun? :-)

Beautiful place to just BE! It seems so relaxing. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteOhh Lori - you have a river view -- how fabulous. I love watching the Fraser -- doesn't matter what side. Years ago we had a place at Hatzic Lake and I still regret having to sell it. Is the Kingfisher on the lower road by the ferry?
ReplyDeleteIt sure is a nice spot but you do have to look past the industrial mess around there. I am on the same side as the restaurant but I don't live on the river.
ReplyDeleteJoanne: my inlaws lived on Hatzic slough for many years. If you went up the slough you would have noticed their house. The one with the windows everywhere and the corner stone fireplace that was two and half stories high. Looked like a ski chalet.
