WE CAN’T EAT THAT WHY????
I had posted recently about the mass of meatballs and meat loaves I made on my day off.
It was a Herculean effort. Entire giant packages of ground beef and ground pork mixed together with many herbs, spices, grated cheese, Panko crumbs. You can see my recipe/method here under OMG Meatballs. (don’t be turned off by this post)
Rolling and rolling and rolling the many meatballs. Baking them off in the oven. Packaging them up for the freezer. Washing out of the baking trays and also the meat loaf pans.
We had some meatballs that night for supper and my son had also cooked some on another night.
I have now seen that there is a recall of the ground beef from the store I bought it from due to an e-coli contamination.
I will be requesting a refund for the pork as well since the contaminated meat ruined it. This will total about 40.00 so I am glad I have the receipt still.
It is going to kill me to throw out all my hard work. I know it could kill me to eat it but, but…….but….wahhhhhh.

NOTHING WRONG WITH MY MEMORY
So I see a man today and I recognize him from somewhere....I can't figure out where from and then I see his name and my memory twigs....Mr. Ellis, teacher at David Thompson up until 1995.
How did my mind remember him when I wouldn't have seen him since the early 1970s.
I can't remember what I did last week. I can’t remember what someone said to me yesterday. I can’t remember my work schedule. But I remember this face which I haven’t seen in almost 40 years.
It wasn’t like we were close or anything. There was no bond or memorable moments. I just remembered his face enough to connect it to his profession.
I felt bad for him though because here he was looking at a woman with gray hairs mixed in with her browns who is of a grandmotherly age and being told “hey I remember when you were my teacher in high school”.

FALL IS IN THE AIR
I don’t know what it is about this time of year but it makes me nest. It makes me want to cook and bake and rearrange.
I know it is technically still summer but I am in full Fall mode already.
I am snuggled in a soft throw because we still have the windows open and the rooms are chilly in the morning. During the sunny days we still need a fan on to move the hot air.
The biggest indicator for me that we are in for a change of seasons is that I want to cook. I want to have thing premade in my freezer to take out at a moments notice. I want to stock up for the rough winter ahead like a squirrel…..except where I live winters, though rainy are not that tough and the grocery stores are minutes away.
Yesterday, on my day off , I made 2 trays of my famous meatballs. That is 70 large meatballs. Click here to see how to make some for yourself.
Then I made 2 meat loaves that went directly into the freezer.
Since I was in Fall mode I also made a giant pot of stew. This simmered away all afternoon and I thought we would be up until midnight trying to get it cooled down enough to put in the fridge overnight.
Next nesting binge will likely include pumpkins and a good amount and sugar…..the possibilities are endless.
Do you get the urge to cook in the fall? To bring out warm, cozy blankets and things that smell of pumpkin spices.

Well this is just the tip of the talent iceberg. I just love them all. Don’t you? I am always so amazed at the talent in my family…even if we are cousins a few times removed.
