The following is a quote from a comment I made on Facebook on November 13th.
I have a leak in my car...did I mention I have a leak in my car...a leak, remember? I am sure I mentioned several times over the last couple months that I have a leak in my car...a leak...as in musty smell and my radio turning off and on all on its own...leaking...in my car....tons of moisture inside my windows...did I mention that? Right.
Just went to go to Costco....opened my car door in the driveway and found 2 inches of water in the car and it won't start....
Jeez...I am sure I mentioned that I must have a leak at some point over the last 2 months...didn't I?”
Honestly no one paid attention to my concerns. I could walk up to my car with the keys still in my hand and the radio would be playing loud and clear in the car. The radio was running directly off the battery and I couldn’t shut it off. Have you seen the Stephen King movie Christine? Ya. Like that.
Last weekend my rear windshield wiper started to run all on its own. Couldn’t shut it off and had to keep squirting washer fluid so it wasn’t scraping on a dry window. This made the demon possessed self playing radio seem like a minor detail.
Well my car is now fixed. Another $500.00 down the drain or should I say to help it drain. They removed my seats and carpets to dry everything out over 5 days.
Meanwhile they were looking for the leak. Turns out there are drainage channels for the sunroof and they were clogged with debris so the rain was pouring right into my car and playing havoc with the electrical system. The sunroof doesn’t leak at all…it was just the clogged drainage channels. Good to know people.
So tell me this. When you have a concern about your car or your appliances or anything like that does it take a major meltdown before it gets the attention it deserves or does the more mechanical person in your life attend to the issues right away?
Did I mention that I had a leak in my car?
