This Metamorphosis Monday was a breeze to accomplish. it was not trouble at all. Mostly because I wasn't even there to work on it. The cabin is my BB guy's domain. The projects are all his. I figure there is enough for me to do at home I don't need more projects there.
This project is an outdoor kitchen and barbecue area. The deck wasn't even here when we bought the place a few years ago. This year he added the covered barbecue area because they are there in the snow as well as the heat. Can't have that snow watering down your drink now can you while you are grilling the meat? I hear grunting don't you.
He closed in the back and sides of the enclosure
On the inside there are lights and stereo speakers. It is also wired for electrical plugs.
The large stainless steel counter and cupboards were put up there a while back but he had pulled it out to work on the area.
This is the first time he has ever tiled anything. There was a learning curve but he figured it out. He built a raised platform to put the stainless steel barbecue on.
Although the barbecue looks really low to me in the picture it is higher than counter height. I guess pictures look different from my 5' tall photos to his 6'3 photos.
Attention to detail. Keep things level so your chicken doesn't roll off of the grill while it is cooking.
Some lattice work to finish off the back.
Here it is with the counter and cupboard back in. He planed the would himself and also created the moldings around the posts.
Don't look at the ratty cushions. They are shredded by the sun and will be replaced. The only thing missing from the counter top is the blender for the margaritas.
My ensuite bathroom needs redoing and I think he could totally do it. Don't you.
I just went into his camera and changed the date/time stamp on it. It has been wrong for years and annoys the heck out of me.

Looking forward to that transformation.. I can see myself sitting for hours out here enjoying your beautiful transformation..hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteOh Lord, don't let my husband see that. He would be all a ga ga over this! Very cool - looks like a great place to hang out & enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic...and now you have an outdoor kitchen. My husband would love that!
ReplyDeleteWho needs a blender? Just give me the bottle,a glass, and some ice! Not really! It's either a beer, a glass of wine, or I have to have something sweet to take away the taste of the alcohol. I'll take the margarita but no salt, thank you. Or maybe a pina colada, or a tequila sunrise,or an Arnold Palmer(not virgin)... You get it, right Lucy?
ReplyDeletehugs, Ethel
Very nice, I truly want an outdoor kitchen just like this one. I am saving your blog so that I can show my Dad for a future project. ~ Robyn
ReplyDeleteHubby did a fabulous job!!! And I definitely could hear grunting!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori,
ReplyDeleteVery impressive! That you figured out how to change that date/time thingy ... those are always a pain! Oh ... and the outdoor kitchen is great too!!! ;)
Bill
Hi, thanks for visiting my spindle cottage blog.
ReplyDeleteI love the color of the tiles on the makeover. I am wondering where you live since you get snow! I guess I need to check it out. OH, and a level cook top---it made me chuckle because my counters and cooktop are slightly slanted--so things sometimes slide ;-) (old houses are like that )
WOW...what a great idea! I love all the stainless steel you used and it just looks so professional. LOVE IT and I know you do too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your great comments on this project.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I have had no part in the design or execution of this fabulous metamorphosis.
It was all done by my BB.
And Sue/Lucy there is nothing for me to fluff there because there are not even walls inside yet.
I have a box of fluff stuff to add when it is ready inside.
This is a great idea and I want one too so I can do my canning in the summer outside and the house won't heat up.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and by far your answer to my problem was the simplest and made the most sense. Why didn't I think if that?
The weather is cooling gotta get painting.
