This past weekend we had the coffee group and their spouses over for our yearly barbecue. Oh I love my coffee group. They are so much fun. They are rude and crude and we make each other funnier by our rebuttals and quips.
As I always say it the funny isn't done until someone has liquids coming out of their noses. I don't care if it is coffee or wine or water.
We started off with 3 tables. Expecting 15 for dinner. Now I am no superstar in the Tablescape realm so don't expect them all to match perfectly but they did turn out pretty good and our guests always feel so relaxed at our house. The plywood top on the left side table was cut out by my BB to replace the glass center that blew out 2 years ago in a storm. I love the newly stained deck but oh do the pine needles ever show up on it. I am sweeping all the time. Grrr.
Here the plywood is covered with a vinyl tablecloth to keep it dry until Saturday.
Now I moved the vinyl cloth to the bar table and covered the plywood with a white sheet to hide the wood.
A red and white tablecloth over the white sheet.
Some white plates with red napkins. The wine glasses are turned upside down to keep the pine needles out of them. What a pain.
Here is the view from our upper deck off the dining room. Apparently one table managed to clear the dishes better than the other table. Shame on you guys. Look at the mess you left for my BB to clean up. Lol.
Actually we were pretty well behaved this night. Really we were.
Oh yes, this is how much prime rib we cook for this bash. This is rubbed with a mixture of crushed garlic, rosemary, thyme, pepper, salt and olive oil.

ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun party and sounds like a fun group! I think you did a great job on the tables! The prime rib is DELICIOUS looking. I love Fantasia's version of Summertime too--and Billy Holliday!

ReplyDeleteHope to see you at Hyacinth For The Soul for some rooster fun and a toast to Julia Child.

ReplyDeletelook very inviting, how could they not enjoy themselves.
Looks like you all had a good time...that looked like enough prime rib to feed an army.
ReplyDeleteYou were like cavemen, eating at very pretty tables.
ReplyDeletewow, with a chunk of prime rib that big - you could have had a caveman theme party too!
ReplyDeleteLoved the different tablecloths - very nice!
What a fabulous deck you have! I can see that much can go on out there. Great job on all of the different scapes!
ReplyDeleteBlessings...
Looks fabulous!! Sounds like you had a great time and from the short amount of time I met a small portion of your friends I can see why you had such a fun time.
ReplyDeleteThat beef looks beyond yummy!!!
Lucy it looks just wonderful. The tables are so pretty with the red and that pop of orange red in the candle. I keep seeing the outdoor set I had in Canada. My deck and pergola were painted the same colour as your deck. Here
ReplyDeleteWhat a slab of prime rib! It looks so good. You have such a gorgeous backdrop for entertaining, and it looks you really threw a wonderful bash.
I wish Hub and I could have been there.
When you come here in the spring, you are doing the cooking okay?

You can't go wrong with red and white--sooooo cheerful!! I would rather tangle with pine any ole day than with the zillions of mosquitos we have---we have to wait until cooler weather sets in so the buggers will DIE.
ReplyDeleteps. I have several blogs--the one for my tablescape is the spindle cottage one;
That is a whole lot of beef for your fun coffee group. I also have the pine needle issues:)

Great job, Lori! The deck looks great, and waht a feast! Sounds like a fun party!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I only shop at the WSonoma OUTLET, so that rooster cloth I used was not expensive! I don't set foot in the real store! Can't afford it!
Have a great weekend!
Sounds like a wonderful time. The prime rib looks fabulous!

ReplyDeleteDonna
Now this certainly looks like the makings of a goooooood time!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun you all must have had...You made your porch the perfect place for an outside party! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have such a big deck to fit 3 tables on! I know how frustrating it is to have not pine needles falling on the deck but leaves from a sick tree we have over ours. Your tablescapes looked great and your "after" pics reflect a fun party!
