ReplyDeleteThis is awful. Get the spray. Get a swatter. Get a flip-flop.
Or simply shut the door and wait for your Mr. to come home.
Shut the cat in the room for everyone's betterment.
Gawd.
I hate bugs.
Ha ha...I'm laughing at the post above! That is funny! I am with her though...kill the moth! I would let the fire fly looking thing. Have you ever noticed or thought about how transparent their wings are? How do they fly so good?
ReplyDeleteLori- Why are you playing with bugs?! eeewww... ick..... Instead of the camera, get the fly swatter!
ReplyDeleteI have a love/hate relationship with bugs. I love to hate them.
ReplyDeleteNo, actually -- I rather admire most of them, they work so darned hard and have such short lives. If I knew I was only going to live a few days, I wouldn't be busy flying from flower to flower selflessly spreading the pollen around, I'd be in a little gossamer hammock eating fairy bon-bons and reading trashy novels. You gotta admire bugs. They just keep plugging along, sometimes even after they've been stepped on. Tor the first time anyway.
That second monstrous bug is actually quite striking. And I don't mean that someone ought to strike him --- but he's a lovely iridescent blue.
But a word.... SCREENS.
I've been traumatized in Europe and in southern California by hotels that think they don't need screens. What? They don't have bugs in Malibu or Switzerland? Ha.
Cass
Eeeeeek moths and bugs. Yuck. You're brave Lori even going close.
ReplyDeleteThe dragonfly is just beautiful. I love their "fairy wings". Moths don't bother me, but I hate when they get in the house and startle me. And to the previous commenter, my cat is no help at all. She looks at me as if to say, you opened the door and let it in, so YOU can get rid of it lol. Kathy
ReplyDeleteDuh now I see this. A day late. I love every kind of insect. Mud Daubers are not so special, but the rest are so interesting. The more you understand something, the less you fear it, right? That moth and dragonfly are so beautifully coloured. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteXOLucy
They are beautifully colored, but how did you get them to "pose" for their close-ups :-).
ReplyDeleteI guess you guys don't want to hear about the time in Mexico when the 6 inch long Cucaracha (cockroach) landed on my shirt in the night market? He was quite amazing.
ReplyDeleteI have screens everywhere except on my French doors which are open all day long. Motha was on the outside of the door. Dragon Ladies fly in on a regular basis. Bugs, spiders, bats etc. don't bother me in the least (okay don't climb on me)but a snake within a mile of me and I would be hysterical. My cat never got that message though and gifted me with one a couple of times. Kitty is no longer with us and that is all I will say about that.
Lori, that is EXACTLY why our overly huge cat is not allowed outside (besides hiding in the arbor and being afraid of our outside cat)...he once brought in a squirrel and put it in his food dish...unharmed. That night has never been forgotten. I know he would "gift" me with a rattler given half a chance.
ReplyDeleteLove the dragonfly!Funny, earlier in the year we had the red-brown ones now we have those neon blue ones in the yard.Grow Moonvines sometime, you will get the big moths then!Always enjoy your blog!
