Let's join Tam @ The Gypsy's Corner for Three or More Tuesday.
I have found these vintage ads at
http://www.plan59.com/main.htm
and think you will enjoy them.
Let's just say we've come a long way baby.
I'll have some Baileys in my cup please.

This is Lucy (me) and Lucy (Florida Sue)
taking off on our road trip. We will be on the lam for a
while and hopefully won't end up in jail....again.
The whole Lucy thing is a long story. Suffices to say it involves stomping grapes and
neither one of us wanting to "do" Fred.

Hi Lori,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! The images are wonderful, and your comments ... hilarious! Some of the illustrators of the past definitely took their work to the level of fine art. The first and third pics are great examples of that!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my flatware post. Would it help my case if I said I've sold a few sets at the local antique mall (none of the ones you saw pictured of course!)? Oh, and I haven't bought any in months ... well ... in weeks.
I have a set of "South Seas" as well. Interesting coincidence that both your mother and mother-in-law had the same pattern! I'll have to use it in a tablescape soon. What goes with faux-Tahitian utensils anyway?
I really liked these ~ I've not seen them before. You're right, we have come a long way!
ReplyDeleteClassic aren't they?
ReplyDeleteLove these vintage posters. They are very funny sometime.I especially like the grafics on them They are so Fifties!
ReplyDeleteThese old ads really do qualify as snippets of history and art all rolled into one--and yes, I agree, coffee NEVER put that look on my face :)
ReplyDeletehaha..oh boy do I have a link for you!! annetaintor.com
ReplyDeleteGreat posting. Thanks for sharing. Happy 3 or more Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteHi Lori!
ReplyDeleteThey are great! I love you and Florida Sue..so much to look forward to!
I removed ALL java script from my blog, and so far so good..
But which gadget was the culprit..will we ever know, LOL
I love vintage ads. There's a simplicity that is so optimistic somehow. Does that make sense to any one but me?
ReplyDeleteDawn
Lucy! No trip for me? I must be home with Fred...ewww... I almost got Sherry and me into trouble on our outing. I just can't keep my mouth closed when someone is annoying! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove these old ads... As a journalism major in college, I learned to appreciate them for how they sold the product. Sue/Ethel
What a fun post, I love the vintage ads.
ReplyDeleteMay the rest of your week be filled with joy

This was a lot of fun, but I think those two gals are actually Thelma and Louise in disguise.
ReplyDeleteHa ha which one am I? If I am the one with the map we are in big trouble. I hope we are not about to drive off a cliff, Lucy. They are great ads. Maybe we have Ethel stuffed in the trunk.
ReplyDeleteXOLucy
Oh they were definitely works of art.
ReplyDeleteSue/Ethel we had to throw you in the trunk because Fred was on the warpath looking for his dinner. I believe you parting words as we drove off were "screw Fred" and not in the nice way.
Sue/Lucy we don't need no stinkin map. Have you ever found lam on the map? No. We are on the lam.
I don't want to drive off a cliff but I will if I have to.
Great vintage ads. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletethis is so fun! vintage ads are so classic! well done!
