After all the snow and freezing temperatures we had this year I finally had to cave in and wash my car. It was so dirty I couldn't see out my back window. Didn't bother me so much but people were getting tired of jumping out of the way when I backed out of my driveway.
I swear that every wheel ever made was designed by a man who has no idea of how hard it will be to clean those crevices.
It was especially fun this time to use the hose because the eldest son left the hose in the driveway last week and I drove over the end flattening it so I couldn't put the spray nozzle on. Good thing we are not on a metered water system. Of course if my back window had been clean at the time I would have seen the hose. I ended up wet to my knees and those who know me know that is not very high. But it is still cold.
So yes I washed and rinsed and scrubbed until my knuckles were sore and my nails were destroyed. I pulled my now beautiful car into the garage, got out and walked around to go into the house. Of course there is a big spot I missed on the passenger side. No worries. I used eldest son's sock to wipe it clean.
By the way...I put the hose away when I was done.

I had to laugh, sorry. You painted a wonderful picture of you, your car, and neighbors afraid for their lives!
ReplyDeleteDelightful story well-told.
ReplyDeleteJust think, with Christmas less than 5 months away, snow and ice will be here too! :(
ReplyDeleteHahaha... I cannot believe you are brave enough to wash your car in FEBRUARY! Holy smokes! I go to the cheap car wash and get the basic $5 wash; I'm a chicken. No hoses for me in the winter... brrrr.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, re: today's post, I DO get all the good stuff. :-P
No, I just live in an area where there are so many people that there's a correspondingly HUGE amount of stuff, good and not. The Force is with me.
Of course, the downside is that I live in an area where there ARE so many people!
Love using son's sock to dry ... pay back.

Great story. I didn't know there was any place that didn't have metered water. Must be nice, unless you pay an arm and a leg for it to begin with.
ReplyDeleteGreat story, and I love the last part about using the sock to get the dirt off.
ReplyDeleteCheeky girl, go read my reply comment to your questions on today's post.

My rear window of my car is covered with dust, but then it always is. It's just how it is living in the dusty road country!
ReplyDeleteI like your story, especially the sock part!
Good girl for putting the hose away!
hahaha, I can't tell you the last time I washed my car. That's the husbands job!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori...
ReplyDeleteGirl, you are much braver than me...washing your car in February! Hehe! I loved reading your story though...I definitely got a visual!!! You're too cute!!!
Thanks for sharing this story today...I laughed out loud...and thank you for joining in with Sunday Favorites again this week, my friend!!!
Warmest wishes,
Chari
Lori - -took me a minute to realize you didn't just wash the car this weekend. I guess your friends don't realize washing our cars in February is actually a ritual that we like to brag about -- OMG we really are pathetic west coasters - I know I am at least.
ReplyDeleteThat is funny...and I use my boys socks all the time to clean something.....I always wind up with only one?? Where is the other one...don't know til months later, under the bed, couch, etc....they make great cleaning and wiping necessities for us mOms:)
