TREAT YOURSELF THURSDAY

Treating myself this week would be an easy choice. I have been staining my deck for 3 days now. I am getting rather sore and the only thing to soothe this would be a massage. My BB guy isn't here so I can't ask him. He is a good back massager and will do it any time I ask. Even if he says no I just sit with my back to him without saying anything and before you know it he is rubbing my back.

Ladies it is time once again for Treat Yourself Thursday. I am happy to have you here and look forward to seeing what ways you have come up with to treat yourself or someone else. Big or small it doesn't matter. Just find the time to do it. Even a 5 minute break can be a treat some days.

For those of you who don't know it yet...and quite frankly why would I have told anyone. I have a huge crush on Johnny Depp. Back in the day when he filmed 21 Jump Street in Canada through his many films I just sigh when I see him. I quiver at the opening scene in Don Juan De Marco. Oh my. And in Chocolat, well to me he is more intoxicating than the best chocolate. As Captain Jack Sparrow he brings new meaning to the words "pirates booty".
So for my treat this week I grabbed the new Vanity Fair magazine and rushed home to read all about him. The man is a lover of wine and he owns his own island. I am so in love. I am not that much older than he is, really. Not cougar age difference.
Now show what treat for yourself that you have that can beat this one. Ooops I forgot all about the bowl of cherries I was eating. Sigh.

TREAT YOURSELF THURSDAY: Smoothie Sailing

This Thursday I would like to invite all of you to Treat Yourselves or someone special in your life. Take a minute, an hour or even the whole day to enjoy a treat.
This can be as simple as a moment to walk through your garden with no intention of weeding or clipping. It could be that perfect square of chocolate that no one else in the house has found yet. It could be manicures and pedicures or that full body massage you have been saving up time and money for. Maybe you haven't even done it yet. That trip abroad, the special pair of shoes you have had your eye on. Maybe you will treat someone else. Your spouse, your friend anyone at all.

I am treating myself to a smoothie. Just a few minutes of prep work and I have a pineapple, strawberry, banana, yogurt smoothie that is so good for me and so good to drink. I wouldn't hesitate to make this for someone else so why not take a minute for me and Treat Myself special.

I love fresh vegetables and when I buy them I truly think it is a treat. I like the fresh crisp crunchiness of them. We bought some delicious organic vegetables at a farmer's market. The radishes were huge as you can see in the ladies hand on the left. The were peppery and crunchy. We also bought some long radishes that were even hotter and some mixed greens, asparagus and rhubarb. Yes a treat indeed.Ya right. You really want a treat? Try this chocolate gelato we had in an Italian restaurant on the weekend. Tita's Italian Bistro in Vernon, British Columbia. Gelato is so much more enjoyable than ice cream. Then following this we had some complimentary shots of Black Sambuca with one of the owners. Licorice flavor at it's best. Those Italians know how to treat themselves.

Treats for yourself, treats for your loved ones, your pets or maybe even a friend, neighbor or co-worker. You know you deserve a treat today.
What kinds of treats will you come up with? A soothing soak in a tub. An ice cream treat for your kids. A chance to go for a walk. Time to read a book. Some meditation. Even taking the time to rub on some hand lotion.
You define what is a treat that week. Is this something you have done, intend to do or just dream about doing?

Now I love magazines. I keep them for a long time and when I need a treat I collect some up and go through them again. I tear out the pages I am interested in and put them in a pile that of course I never get around to for organizing.

The best way to do this is by filling the tub with some yummy milk bath and soaking away the day in fragrant lavender milk bath from Tuscan Garden Farms in Langley, B.C.
