BARBECUE, BAR-B-Q, BAR-B-QUE OR PLAIN OLD GRILLIN'
We love barbecue at our house. We love it all. We love ribs, briskets, butts, chicken, salmon, burgers, kabobs, grilled corn, grilled peppers, potatoes. You name it.
When traveling my BB Guy just loves to find new barbecue places to try. He takes large groups of customers to these venues and they have huge feasts.
Here in the Vancouver area we have a a super place to get barbecue. Memphis Blues has 5 outlets now. Oh my word the food is good. They don't take reservations and they are small places so the lineups can get long. They are diner style and really casual. You can order individual dishes or huge platters of food for a group. These have ribs, brisket, sausages, chicken, beans, cole slaw, potato salad, sauces and fries on them. The Elvis platter is usually what we get for a group.
As they say on their website "Baah-be-cue, it ain't just for breakfast anymore"
Now this is what I want from you. What great barbecue places are in your area or do you know of? I want names and places people. I want to know what is so awesome about them too please. We would love a list for future reference when we travel.

TABLESCAPE THURSDAY - SPRING IS COMING
I am joining Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. I rarely join in but this week I happened to have set the table in a spring motif. I usually have artichokes in this centerpiece but the store didn't have any nice ones.
Make sure you say hi in a comment before you rush off to see all the other beautiful tablescapes at Susan's.

WAS IT A FULL MOON ?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/bradbridgewater/4315410572/
Oh my gosh, was it a full moon yesterday? I cannot figure out how all the nutcases came out on the same day. I had 3, yes 3 people hang up on me yesterday and several more who ranted like crazy people even when it was clearly something they had done to create the problem.
Although I am new at this I assure I wasn't rude to any of them. Two hang ups were furious that I couldn't give them information on accounts that were not in their names. Ooops, my bad for protecting the privacy and security of someone elses account.
One guy paid the wrong account 3 times at his bank. How was that our fault? Does your phone company call you and say why are you paying on an acct that you don't owe on? No. They post the payment and send you your statement showing a credit. Duh. I can't change your payment to whatever I feel like in the end unless you ask me to. So ask me asshat and I am happy to help you.
Forgot your password for the website access? How is that my fault. Look, look at the big blue letters that say "Forgot Your Password" and click on those. Uh-huh, now that's a big boy. Good boy. Sorry I was so inept by not knowing you secret, private password.
Now don't get me wrong they were not all nasty.
I spoke with the most wonderful, sweet customers some of whom were in the same position as these previous people. They were cheerful even though they had a problem. They were understanding that I couldn't give out information and would happily add their names to the account with the okay from the account owner. They thanked me profusely for all my help telling me how wonderful I had been to deal with.
I will think of these nice people and forget the nasty ones...now that I have let steam out here.
Thank you for calling and have a nice day.
(I don't actually tell them to have a nice day because I find that empty and hollow)

THREE OR MORE TUESDAYS - UP, UP, UP
I am joining in with Tam @ The Gypsy's Corner for Three or More Tuesdays. There are way more than three in this video clip but I assure you they are all good ones. (except the baggy droopy pants...I don't care about those any more than my parents generation should have cared about guys with long hair or us wearing bellbottoms...every generation has their "thing" to annoy the grownups)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BB GUY
My Big Burly Guy is celebrating his birthday today...or not... as he said he doesn't want to do anything.
Not want to do anything? For your birthday? I can't imagine that.
Happy Birthday to you my sweet Baboo.

SUNSHINE AWARD
Many thanks to Jo Anne over at Surf Chick 100 and of Card Craft by Jo fame for the Sunshine Award. With the rainy weather we have had I think it was this sunny flower award that turned our Vancouver weather to sunshine on Tuesday. There has been a lot going on here lately so I am a little late in putting this out.
What a bright pretty award. Thanks again Jo.Now she said it should be given to 12 people but I am breaking the rules. I will come up with a list but I can't guarantee 12. Lets play it by ear.

SUNDAY FAVORITES- THE BIRDS WERE SINGING
Chari @ Happy to Design is hosting Sunday Favorites. We pick an old post and repost it for you to see, probably for the first time. It is a great way to take some time off and to show you something that you may not have seen from previous years. Stop in and say hi to Chari and to visit the other links. Link up yourself.
This was first posted back in February of last year. The dog is now 13 years old and peeing is an even bigger issue. The son? Not much has changed there.
What a beautiful morning. A perfect combination of having the bed to myself, cozy and warm and the birds singing, a sure sign of spring coming. I slept great and had planned on staying in bed longer (mainly because the coffee shop doesn't open until 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays) when the dog decided she had to pee and it would have to be now. When you are dealing with a 12 year old female dog you believe her when she says she has to go now.
I dragged a warm blanket out to the living room with me and tossed it onto the couch where unseen by me my eldest was sound asleep. We have a big hide-a-bed downstairs and a guest room with two more beds but he figured the living room would be the best place to sleep. Not to mention he has his own place where he can sleep undisturbed on his couch or floor or bed or kitchen counter for that matter.
Why do I look like the annoying one when I wake him up to move to the other room so I can watch the morning news? Jeesh. It's not like I threw cold water on his head or something. It was a warm soft blanket. No I am not harbouring bad feelings for having run over the hose end that he left out. (click here to see that post) It was completely innocent.
Did I mention that the birds were singing?

HERE'S THE THING
Okay I have a little rant here. I will probably tick off a bunch of you and you will never speak to me again but here I go. My intent is not to criticize the regular bloggers who always comment and participate. I just thought these blog badges were like trading cards. Please don't be insulted.
You know how we create a blog badge for others to put on their sites. Cheap advertising, I know.
Well I feel if you offer a blog badge for others to put on their sites you should darn well be putting the badges of others on your site. I just don't get it. I see that all the time. Isn't that the point of doing them? To share back and forth. To help promote our fellow bloggers.
Of course it is an individual choice but I thought the point of doing them was to showcase the awesome blogs we find. Not just our own.
What do you think?
BTW you can grab both of my blog's badges over there on the sidebar. Help yourself.
(It is okay if you don't have a blog badge or know what one is...I am just talking about the ones who do. If you do want one and don't know how I am happy to help you with one...and I will put it on my site lol.)
(I keep updating this post. I am not angling to get MY badge on anyone's site. I just think if you offer your blog badge you should also post others on your site. Not necessarily mine but anyone's.)

WRITER'S CHALLENGE #4 - WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO TO VISIT?
Another Writer's Challenge is upon us. This is number four. First let me thank all of your who participate and comment and visit our posts for the challenge. Secondly let me invite you to join in. This is just for fun and no expertise is needed. Even if you don't have a blog you can join in. You can email me your post and I will put it up on my blog.
The challenge for the fourth event is: WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO FOR A VISIT? I didn't even have to stop for a nanosecond to come up with my answer.
I have wanted to go to Italy for years now. It is number one on my list. I even know what week I want to get there for.Of course one week is not enough but I know where I want to start.
When the movie Under The Tuscan Sun came out it just reinforced my resolve to go there one day but my wish started before I ever saw the movie. There truly is something about the Tuscan sun. The color of the sky is different than anywhere else I am sure. When I see a photo of the area I quite literaly lose my breath.
To walk into the piazza for fresh food right from the farms. To sit in at a table outside of the coffee house with a cappuccino. To sip a wonderful chianti watching the world go by and the sun go down with a plate full of antipasta. Maybe artichokes, tomatoes and slices of cured salumi with a crusty bread and salty olives. The enjoyment of good food and wine here is so obvious. When you see how they shop and cook and eat you just want to absorb it all like a sponge. They do it with gusto.
I plan on going to a little town called Greve. My trip will take place in the first week of September when they celebrate with a Chianti festival. The evenings cool down a bit by then after the hot summer nights and the children are back in school.
We also plan on seeing the coast. My BB guy loves seafood and he will certainly get his fill by the ocean. I don't eat shellfish or anything exotic like squid or eel so I will have to be satisfied with the other offerings in the area. I know there will be no shortage of foods to enjoy.
Some time ago I had a friend do a guest post on here about her trip to Italy. She imports a lovely wine by the case that they had tasted at a small vineyard and was kind enough to share a bottle with me one evening. You can read the story here.
You should take a look at Lola's two blogs to appreciate what I am talking about. Aglio, Olio & Peperoncino and Roma Every Day will open your eyes to the beauty of Italy and when I go I hope she can meet me for dinner and wine. Until then I will just look at her photos and read her descriptions and just sigh.
If you need any help with Mr. Linky let me know. Please leave a comment before you head out to visit the rest of the participants. If you link up and you don't have a Writer's Challenge post I will delete your link. Use your link for that direct post and not you whole site or else when you post again this entry will get moved and the people looking for it may not find it. Thanks for joining in.

To be on a hillside overlooking the valleys filled with grapes. To stay at a farm that grows what it eats. One that makes their own wine and cheese and perhaps even proscuitto. One that has goats and hens.

Apoteosi Wine photos by Linda
I am so looking forward to the day when we finally go to Italy. It may be a while yet but I am determined. The grapes will be ripe and juicy. The sky will be that special shade of blue, the food will be sublime. Truly the dolce vita. You should take a look at Lola's two blogs to appreciate what I am talking about. Aglio, Olio & Peperoncino and Roma Every Day will open your eyes to the beauty of Italy and when I go I hope she can meet me for dinner and wine. - I needed to go to the post office and raced up there figuring I was too late. Nope...they are open until 9:00 pm.
- My BB guy was given a free crock pot. Cool.
- I have to go and buy a big bag of dog food tomorrow. Today in the mail was our free bag voucher for being a loyal customer at the pet food store. Score.

SUNDAY FAVORITES - VALENTINES DAY
It has been a year since I started blogging so I am celebrating with a cool giveaway and you have until Tuesday night to enter. Click here to enter. Don't miss out.
______________________________________________________
Chari @ Happy to Design is hosting Sunday Favorites for us again.
Went to the local pub last night for drinks and burger with my BB. (and the fellow snowmobile crasher, JL cuz his sweetie is in England) Not particularly romantic was it? I am so not into the whole Valentines Day torture. Poor men. I think they get a bad rap on this one. I think my man should make me feel loved, needed and wanted on a daily basis and not let it all hinge on a made up DAY. The flowers are marked up triple the price, the restaurants are packed, the jewelry stores have line ups out the door (we wish). The expectations are out of this world. A recipe for disaster. Except for the jewelry part. I would accept jewelry. Just a medium size diamond. Not too big.

SHAME ON YOU
WANT A FLAG FOR YOUR PROVINCE? LET ME KNOW IN AN EMAIL.
That is not what I want to talk about here. (please remember this when commenting...that is not the topic) What I want to talk about are the disgusting, cowardly, masked violent protesters in our city. You don't speak for me in any way.
DO YOU HEAR ME? YOU ARE COWARDS.
YOU ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT TO OUR COUNTRY BUT MORE SO AN EMBARRASSMENT TO YOURSELF AND YOUR CAUSE.
That is if you even have a cause. You are probably the protester for hire type. Let's create havoc and stick to the Olympics. So you do that by smashing a car? A moped? A store window? Ya, asshat that will show that committee. So here is to all the athletes involved in the 2010 Olympics. Here is to the poor soul who lost his life in the practice run on luge. Here is to all the wonderful people of B.C. who are welcoming the world to our province. The rest of you can go to hell.
