When traveling my BB Guy just loves to find new barbecue places to try. He takes large groups of customers to these venues and they have huge feasts.
Here in the Vancouver area we have a a super place to get barbecue. Memphis Blues has 5 outlets now. Oh my word the food is good. They don't take reservations and they are small places so the lineups can get long. They are diner style and really casual. You can order individual dishes or huge platters of food for a group. These have ribs, brisket, sausages, chicken, beans, cole slaw, potato salad, sauces and fries on them. The Elvis platter is usually what we get for a group.
As they say on their website "Baah-be-cue, it ain't just for breakfast anymore"
Now this is what I want from you. What great barbecue places are in your area or do you know of? I want names and places people. I want to know what is so awesome about them too please. We would love a list for future reference when we travel.

We have a place here in a suburb of Chicago called The Pit. I love it! I like to order the half chicken. Not only can you get the chicken with barbeque sauce, I also like to get it the Greek way sometimes, with lemon and oregano. And of course they have ribs and pulled pork, etc. Everything comes with Texas toast, pasta salad and cole slaw. And LOTS of napkins!!

The best place to get pulled pork barbeque around here is Excell Market. Believe it or not, it's an old gas station--really old and run down--but they have a building out back where they cook barbeque all day over a hickory fire. There's a place inside the gas station where you can sit and eat, but we prefer to buy a couple pounds of bbq, some hamburger buns, bags of chips, and sodas and sit at the picnic tables outside. You'd never think to look at this place that the food would be good, but it's been voted "Best Barbeque" in our town for the past several years!
ReplyDeleteLet's see...we have a place called the Hickory Pit in Albany, OR, and that's the only place I can think of!
ReplyDeleteI ate there a really long time ago, but it was GOOD! You could have any style and flavor...like sweet, hickory flavored, spicy, etc...
But I bet you will never come here because we're BORING!! :) LOL
Boy howdie, you opened a can of worms with this one! I live in Texas, so BBQ is kind of a big deal around here. But I'll be honest, I much prefer the BBQ (pulled pork) that I had when I was a kid in Mississippi. But I digress. Here in Georgetown, my favorite would be Duke's or Georgetown BBQ. But for the hands down, absolute best, incredible BBQ you've got to travel down the road a piece to Lockhart and go to Blacks. It's amazing, and I'm salivating just thinking about it! Kathy
ReplyDeleteWow.....I will have to think about this one a bit! But what I need from you???? To send me some of the ribs in the photo please....ASAP! LOL LOL :) Sandy
ReplyDeleteWhoooooa now you have made me hungry. I am going to have to google that Memphis Blues place. I have never heard of it before.

Thank you for visiting me the other day...it is so nice to meet someone that lives in the same area....especially when you are posting about places to eat in our area that look amazing. Plus a big thank you about that comment that was left on my blog...I took your advice and deleted it...I have not had those before. xo Hope your weekend is going well.
ReplyDeleteLove BBQ...and those ribs look wonderfully delicious! Years ago we had a favorite BBQ Pit we frequented called "Ron's Ribs", but it closed a few years ago. We do our own these days, but your picture sure reminds me of the ribs from Ron's Ribs. Mumzie
ReplyDeleteEven though I fully realize your question is purely rhetorical, I think I'll answer it ANYWAY!
ReplyDeleteI call it Bar-B-Que IF one is slopping on that sweet red sauce, otherwise I call it grillin'
Now you know how we roll around here - - -
OH - - - unless you're doin' an entire hog in a pit, then around here that's called A HOG ROAST!
We are BBQ fanatics here. My favorite place to get it is my own backyard. My hubby has worked at perfecting his smoking skills for years. That said, we live in small town Nebraska...beef country. We have a small chain of restaurants here called *Come And Get It BBQ* and they do a great job....I especially love the brisket sandwich with a side of cole slaw or the ribs and sweet potato fries...YUM!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Gail
No one does B B Q like my hubby...he does a mean brisket...ribs...and chicken...never found a restaurant to compare....
ReplyDeleteDevoted barbeque places are a rarity, at least in the part of England where we live. Lots of the pubs do an outdoor bbq during the Summer months, but I can't vouch for the quality of the food. There's a steak house called Penn Cottage which we've been to that do acceptable steak, but I think my own are better. By the way, you missed "bbq" for a spelling of it.
ReplyDeleteMy fav bbq food? Ribs!
Hockey game just ended.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Canada!
There are lots of little BBQ joints around here. One that I have never tried, but everyone says is the BEST is a couple hours away, in Owensboro, KY. It's called Moonlight BBQ. One day we'll have to make it up there to try it. I love ribs.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Canada!
ReplyDeleteThere is place about an hour from me that has good ribs..J&R's in Calverton. I make pulled pork and ribs, so we usually have that here instead of out.
Those ribs look good, but it is chicken tonight!
