The saga of my insomnia is a sad tale. Many of you know that I can't sleep. I fall asleep just fine but wake throughout the night and cannot get back to sleep for hours. This goes on day after day, week after week.
It doesn't matter how tired I am. I just can't drop back into deep sleep mode. I have tried everything except medication, which to me, is not an option.
Something has changed. I have slept every night for a week. I wake to go to the bathroom but go right back to sleep. I am sleeping 8 hours straight easily. Longer if I wanted to.
I have only changed one thing in my life that may be contributing to my new found state of zzzzzzzzzz.
I tried this not because it made any references to sleeping but just to boosting ones metabolism. I thought it sounded good and it does no harm. If nothing else it will help me get some much needed water into my system.
This "recipe" so to speak comes from Dr. Oz. I saw it on Pinterest and I know it has been featured on many other blogs.
I make up a jug full in the evening and keep it covered in the fridge. I have a glass while waiting for my morning coffee to be ready. I have a second glass before I leave for work. I try to drink the rest of it after work but don't always finish it in one day. I will have to get a nice travel cup to bring some to work as well.
I don't know if this is what is helping me sleep or not. All I know is that is the only change in my life and since I started it I am sleeping a deep, wonderful, dream filled sleep. Coincidence? Works for me.
METABOLISM BOOST
- 6 Green Tea bags
- 1 Tangerine
- Handful of fresh mint leaves
- 8 cups water.
- You can add some honey if you have to but I like mine as is
Brew the tea bags in the hot water. Add honey if using so it will mix in with the hot water. Let cool. I leave the tea bags in the jug but you can remove them at this point if you want. Add the sliced orange and the fresh mint leaves.
Try to drink it all in one day.
Could this be any more simple? Is this my miracle for sleep. So far I am saying yes it is. Even if it isn't what is helping me sleep this is a healthy drink so you can't go wrong.

I don't have trouble sleeping. Must be the vodka and diet 7-up. However I am a green tea drinker! This looks good. I'll do it.
ReplyDeleteNOW. about that "favorite place thing." I'm in!
I might just try this - I wonder if it would work with "Clementines?"
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome. I must give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI will give it a try. It sounds tasty and not complicated. Valerie
ReplyDeleteThat's not only healthy, it's pretty too. Green tea is great for the immune system, too.
ReplyDeleteI am using Camomile tea right now, but I'm going to try this..
thanks...
That looks so delish...and Lori, if it works for you I am thrilled. This is wonderful, I've shown it to my husband with a not so subtle hint that maybe he can give it a try.
ReplyDeleteWonder what the wonder drug in it is?

If that is what is doing it than I'm so happy for you! Nothing worse than insomnia...I had been doing that, waking up at like 3 and not getting back to sleep til 5:30 or 6. Then being so sleepy I didn't hear the alarm. I'm gonna pin this so I can do it.
ReplyDeleteI hope this is whats working for you Lori. Regardless, I'm glad your sleeping well again. Insomnia is no laughing matter since it can impact hard on other systems in the body. Approaching menopause means my sleep is all over the place, so I may give this a try too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!

Ohhhh what a great idea girl! Glad its helping! I'd just add that if you put honey into hot water it will use some of the healing properties it has. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Thank you for posting this. I have off-and-on periods of insomnia.
ReplyDeleteI made a great big pitcher of it...and my husband even drank some. But I used loose green tea, and it was a little bitter.
ReplyDeleteAND, I made your tandori chicken again....oh that's so good.
The leftovers were eaten in a wrap with yogurt and grape tomatoes, and cucumbers...simply delish.

It sounds great, no matter what the results! How lovely to find some zzzzz's again though.
