HAPPY NEW YEAR AROUND THE WORLD.

THIS IS A RE-POST FROM 2009. TONIGHT WE ARE HAVING SOME FRIENDS OVER FOR A PRIME RIB DINNER AND SOME CELEBRATION. CHANCES OF ME STILL BEING AWAKE AT MIDNIGHT? MAYBE WE SHOULD TAKE BETS.

What are your New Years Eve traditions? My BB guy and I used to get together with our good friends who lived behind us. The 3 of them would get all kinds of seafood such as lobsters, crabs, mussels, scallops, prawns and they would start feasting early in the evening cooking up one dish after another.  I don't eat shellfish but would get a fabulous steak to cook for me along with some other appetizers that were shellfish free.
The good thing about being at our homes was that the kids could be here too and there was only a backyard separating us so the walk home was easy.

THREE OR MORE TUESDAYS - UP, UP, UP

(except the baggy droopy pants...I don't care about those any more than my parents generation should have cared about guys with long hair or us wearing bellbottoms...every generation has their "thing" to annoy the grownups)

THREE OR MORE TUESDAY - SANTA'S LAST STAND

Tam @ The Gypsy's Corner is hosting Three or More Tuesday. I hate to be redundant but I am posting some last pictures of my Santa collection. I lost two to breakage this year courtesy of my dog...and my BB guy who gets  her tail wagging so darned fast she sounds like a helicopter taking off.
Last count puts them at 98. There are a few missing in the pictures.



I have received some from friends, some from family and some I have bought for myself. I love them all but I love some a little more than others. I can't say which because it may get out.

I am so in love with this photograph by Matthew Watt. He is an incredible photographer and kindly has allowed me to post it on my blog. By the way he said he has seen it on other blogs but no one has ever asked permission. Tsk, tsk fellow bloggers. We need to ask permission to use other peoples images especially when that person may be making a living from their work. You wouldn't want someone copying parts of your blog and using it would you? Of course not.

 Now can you say aaaawwwwww.

THREE OR MORE TUESDAY:SPICY HOT PEPPERS

Three or more Tuesdays is hosted by The Gypsy's Corner.
Hooray, Tam is back. Barbara Jean has done a great job while you were away but we missed you. 
I am sure I have mentioned this before but my family loves hot, spicy foods. We eat foods from many different cultures and often add more spice to them.
This year in my garden I grew two pepper plants which I don't have names for. They were just called garden peppers. I clipped a bunch of them to dry. My son tried one, just the tip mind you, and he declared it to be the hottest pepper he has ever tasted. Oooh. Do tell? 

There are some long skinny ones and some little bulbous ones. 

I also planted some heirloom tomatoes. These are yellow cherry tomatoes that are so sweet and juicy and they are still producing right along with the peppers. They look a little green here but they are yellow, with the exception of a couple reds in there.

I can't wait to cook with these hot babies. A spicy chili. A curry with heat. Some tingling hot Thai. Don't worry, I will warn you if I use them. Oh I don't think I will be using 3 or more of them in anything. Whew.

THREE OR MORE TUESDAY

Two years ago we went to Mexico for a vacation. I decided to post about that for because as I look out the front window here there is a torrential downpour and on top of that I had to turn the furnace last night. Summer is gone for sure. 

The food was plentiful and really quite good. Of course the fresh fruit spreads were amazing. Bananas taste completely different down there compared to the green branches we get in our grocery stores. 

The only thing better than the food and service there were the margaritas that were flowing regularly. My BB guy would wander under the bridge to the swim up bar and come back with the slushy green concoctions for the group. 

There now this has taken my mind off of the rain and cold. 

THREE OR MORE TUESDAY

Tam @ The Gypsy's Corner is hosting Three or More Tuesday. What does it say about me that I always have 3 or more of something? I can always find something for this meme. You should see the rest of the posts. There is always amazing stuff there.

For my Three or More Tuesday I am posting 3 photos relating to my brother, something that makes me pretty sad. My brother was a hockey player. He was a goalie of some note. In his teen years he played in a time where there were few pads for protection and his elbows were so swollen and elongated it was frightening. 

He was a good enough goalie that he received hockey scholarships to universities and played on the farm team for the Vancouver Canucks. He played for Denver University, Ohio University and UBC in British Columbia. He never could have gone to these schools otherwise as my mother had no money. One year in the off season for school he played for the Brandon Wheat Kings, a semi pro team. When he went back to Ohio for the start of the new school year a coach from a rival team recognized him and said that because he played for a semi-pro team he was no longer qualified to play university hockey and lodged a complaint. My brother lost his scholarships. 

Not one to let things get him down at the time he carried on by starting his own businesses. He started making fiberglass goalie masks and he started his own goalie schools. This was back in the 1970's.

His first book on goaltending, although amateur in production, were considered very informative and technically progressive.

His second book was an expansion of the first.

 My brother has had goalie schools in Japan, Minnesota, Florida, Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta and a few other places I have forgotten about. 
 He doesn't drink or use any other substances, not even coffee. For whatever reason he has stopped all contact with me and my sisters. (our parents are deceased). I have three (not more) siblings but for reasons beyond my control I don't even know if one of them is dead or alive.

Okay I have to admit I would eat this.
Except for the catsup which is what they are selling.

Now this is more like it. Oh crap never mind.
I thought that was beer.

Everyone hated going to Martha's house because she really knew
how to make the women feel that she was way more creative than them
and the men just felt uncomfortable.

Quite frankly this child scares me. I don't think she is looking
at the bread. I think she is going to eat her mother starting
at the wrist.

Bizarre-O-Mat

This is Lucy (me) and Lucy (Florida Sue)
taking off on our road trip. We will be on the lam for a
while and hopefully won't end up in jail....again.
The whole Lucy thing is a long story. Suffices to say it involves stomping grapes and
neither one of us wanting to "do" Fred.

I think there is a little more going on here than coffee sniffing.

Well it looks like take out food again or maybe a quick trip to
the Food-O-Mat

THREE OR MORE TUESDAY BACK PORCH ANTIQUES

My 3 or more is a continuation of one of my road trips. The day we went to Krause Berry Farm, The Farm House Cheese shop and to Limbert Mountain Farms we also ended at a place called The Back Porch. Now this place has many different things going on.
They sell antiques, the have an antique coffee roaster which they use regularly, they sell pottery pieces made on site and they have some of the best garlic you will find anywhere.

I chose to show 3 of their outbuildings. This one here houses more antiques inside.

This one is a greenhouse.

This one is storage.

I can't leave you with only this so here are some more pictures from this place.
