A LIFELONG CAREER–VIC LEMIRE

My brother has been involved in hockey his whole life. He was a goaltender and has played for a couple of US universities as well as one here in Canada. He played on the Brandon Wheat Kings team and also for the Vancouver Junior Canucks team.

After leaving university he began running his own very successful hockey schools around the world even running them in Japan, Minnesota, & Florida.

He had a couple ground breaking creations he made for his hockey schools, using his background in mechanical engineering.

Here is a newspaper article about his reflex tunnel to measure the abilities and weak points of his goaltending students. They could improve their reaction times without fear of being hit by a real puck. Brilliant. Remember this was before computers were available to regular people.

OKAY JUST A LITTLE BANDWAGON

I posted a while ago about how so many people were jumping on the hockey bandwagon this year because the Vancouver Canucks were in the playoffs.

Well they have done a great job and it is down to hopefully the last 1 or maybe 2 games.

Of course the crowds are growing  and there are giant TV screens set up in the downtown core. Estimated more than 100,000 people celebrating down there. And that is just in downtown Vancouver, many other huge groups congregated in the outlying suburbs too. There are music videos out and Canuck flags flying from so many vehicles.

I have still managed to stay off the bandwagon but of course want them to win. I thought I would share an fabulous video clip with you. Hockey fan or not this is clever. If you are not a hockey fan note that the teams mentioned are Rangers, Islanders, Blackhawks, Predators, Sharks and now the Bruins. Enjoy

I WILL NOT JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON

Let me just say right off the top that I am not a hockey fan. I prefer basketball. That being said, our local NHL team the Vancouver Canucks are having the most awesome year and are first in the league. 
Things are heating up around here. Everywhere you look the Canuck flags are flying from peoples cars. Hanging in peoples windows.  
I am happy for them. I hope they win because they are "our" team. Will I start hosting Grey (snort, I didn't even get the name right) Stanley Cup parties or screaming and cheering in the pub? Nope. 
As more and more people jump on the bandwagon I shrug my shoulders. I wasn't interested before when they were doing poorly and I am not going to suddenly become a fan now that they are doing great. 
But that bandwagon will be getting bigger and bigger as the days go on. Those who once felt like I did will now be spouting statistics and dropping names like they are best friends with the players. 
They will fill the streets and in some case riot whether we win or lose. 
Me? 
I'll be busy that day.
