I had posted recently about the mass of meatballs and meat loaves I made on my day off.
It was a Herculean effort. Entire giant packages of ground beef and ground pork mixed together with many herbs, spices, grated cheese, Panko crumbs. You can see my recipe/method here under OMG Meatballs. (don’t be turned off by this post)
Rolling and rolling and rolling the many meatballs. Baking them off in the oven. Packaging them up for the freezer. Washing out of the baking trays and also the meat loaf pans.
We had some meatballs that night for supper and my son had also cooked some on another night.
I have now seen that there is a recall of the ground beef from the store I bought it from due to an e-coli contamination.
I will be requesting a refund for the pork as well since the contaminated meat ruined it. This will total about 40.00 so I am glad I have the receipt still.
It is going to kill me to throw out all my hard work. I know it could kill me to eat it but, but…….but….wahhhhhh.
Oh my gosh, so you bought some also? And all of that work, oh Lori, I am so sorry. We are finding out that a lot of people we know bought that meat also. In fact the store called two of them in person to ask them to take it back.
ReplyDeleteThis is beyond scary...I hope that you are still fine after eating them.

Yikes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame!!!
All that work, and you can't use them. Know anybody with a dog who has a taste for delicious meatballs? They are not susceptible to e-coli bacteria.
I'm pretty sure the store doesn't want the actual MEAT back!

Oh, I feel terrible for you! On the nights I make spaghetti and meatballs, I realize it's not such a quick and easy dinner when I'm rolling countless meatballs! Well, you have a rainy day project!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Oh no, so much time that you spent on them. Now, I would take the money I get back, and go out for dinner! ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.

Oh, what a bummer! I used to do 200 meatballs at a time. I made 50 last weekend and thought I was doing a meatball marathon. Truly labor intensive!
ReplyDeleteIsnt it horrible? I feel for ya, Im checking my meat too, and we just had spaghetti yesterday! -.-
