I am happy Three Or More Tuesday is here so that I can tell you how beautiful Tam's @ The Gypsy's Corner new blog design is. It is the freshest, happiest looking blog I have seen in a long time. Even better she designed all of it herself. Any of you who have tried even basic Html code know how challenging this can be. Bravo Tam.
This past weekend my family and I were attending the wedding of the son of our dear friends. They are about a 5 hour drive away from where we all used to live. My BB (Big Burly for those of you who don' know) also had some work things to take care of up in the same area so in the morning the day of the wedding he and I went out on a little drive for him to see his customer. The area we were in is full of old little towns that have tried to preserve their heritage. Enderby,British Columbia is one of these.
We were going through town and saw an antique shop. When we came to the corner to turn and park I saw their beautiful sculpture of salmon swimming by in front of their city hall. I believe the sculpture was done by Peter Postel and there is to be an eagle added along with tall grasses that the fish will be swimming through. They are quite large at about 3-4 feet long. The sunlight was reflecting off of the metal and the colors of the fish were shimmering like live salmon.
Mr. Postel has done a fabulous job and I will make sure to look for the finished piece next time I am up in the Enderby, British Columbia area.We were going through town and saw an antique shop. Enderby looks like a charming town and I love the sculpture. And as the mother of of an upcoming June bride let me say you are a real friend and a sweetheart for making the trip for the wedding. I know they appreciated it!
ReplyDeleteInteresting post for 3 or More...I enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great place to visit.
ReplyDeleteAnd the work on those Salmon! Would be nice to see the Eagle when done.
blessings,
Barbara Jean
The sculpture is wonderful. I wouldn't have it in my home, but nice to see in a city. I like how you have posted something different for Three of More Tuesday. I did too.
ReplyDeleteI can see what you mean about the sun glinting off the metal of the salmon. I wonder if the metal will weather as does copper and turn all those swirly, dreamy colors?
ReplyDeleteWould love to see pics when it is finished if you have a chance to go back!
xoxo

The Gypsy Corner's page is great looking. I need to get off my behind and try to jazz my blog page up a bit. I'm just lazy...lol AND the sculpture is interesting. You will have to update us when the piece is finished.
ReplyDeleteOh Lori, I LOVE that salmon sculpture! I would love something like that at our family's beach house -- wow, it's gorgeous. I can see it now...along our bulkhead....
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind words about our loss of Connie. One of my friends lost her dog, also a Cavalier, on the same day, and another lost her Cavalier yesterday... these are little dogs I've known for years; it's tough.
Howard always says bad things come in 3s, so I do hope this IS the last.
thanks!
