I always enjoy these two blogs. Make sure you check them out. Leave a comment and also visit the other creative people who have posted.
After posting about memes tongue in cheek for the last two days I have decided to behave myself today and play nice. Not that I didn't follow the criteria for the Monday and Tuesday, I did have a mosaic and 3 or more of something.

I am doing a combination post for Outdoor Wednesday and What's On Your Wall Wednesday. I went outside and photographed two things that are on my walls.
The first is this Sun and Moon medallion we brought back from Mexico several years ago. It has kept it's exact colours all this time. I wasn't sure it would. The planter in front of that was bought at Restoration Hardware in Vancouver. I have planted it with Lobelia and 3 Fushias. It usually fills in nicely draping down the front. This is where the bee's nest was hanging a couple of weeks ago. This wall faces our big back deck.

I bought this wall hanger at the grocery store. It is crackling up nicely looking old and weathered. It is in complete shade on my upper deck that is right off my French doors and dining room. The pots it holds are not very big and I usually forget to water it at some point in the summer and they die. Oops. This year there is Impatiens and Lobelia.
This last planter is a Victorian style I think. It gets about half and half sun and shade. By mid summer it will be overflowing with plants. Right now there are Tuberous Begonias, Lobelia, Impatiens, Sweet Peas, and a few others I can't think of right now. I just keep packing stuff in there. One Fall I tossed a giant sunflower head on top in the fall for the birds and every year I get a volunteer sunflower plant to pot up.
While outside today with one of my sons we stopped what we were doing to look at the tiny little bird no more that 3 feet away from us trying to get a drink from my little water feature. I had just adjusted the pump and the water was trickling loudly and I guess that is what attracted him. He couldn't find a perch to have a drink from though and he finally left. I will make sure there is a ledge for the birdies when I finish setting up.

Lucy/Lori, I love all that mossy stuff you have in your planter. I've never seen a Moon/Sun combination like this before- I like it a lot! Did you see I finally posted my 6 things?! Now you can say you really know me. We have one thing more in common, I forget to water plants, as well.... Mr. Sullivan takes care of all my outside pots- if I did it, they would be dried up old weedy things by now. As it is, they are lush and green and I am a happy by-standing gardener~ Thanks, schweetie....

Love those outdoor photos. Really relaxing to see flowers and garden gear.
ReplyDeleteThose photos make me want to see more of your home. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat plant holders. Post pictures later when the flowers are overflowing-- would love to see that!
ReplyDeleteYour sun/moon medallion is beautiful and the planter beneath it looks very similar to one I have just beneath my kitchen window. I have had a hard time deciding how to plant it up. I found hay bale liners, then gave up on that since it didn't look quite right and then went to just placing potted plants in it. That still doesn't look quite right so after seeing how you planted yours up I think I will try that. It is beautiful. Loved your post for WOYWW and OW.

I love your medallion! I see a lot with just the sun (we have one) but this a fabulous. I love the colors!! I also love your planters. Lobelia has always been one of my favorites. In the evening the blue almost seems to glow!

All your wall art is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so pretty! I can just envision that victorian tiered stand in a few weeks. It's going to be over flowing and beautiful. You'll have to show it again.
ReplyDeleteLucy did you see what Lisa said? "We want to see more of you home." I love everything that you have. Will you send me the Sun/Moon medallion? C'mon..I will send you a lizard. They drink from my fountains, so you will be all set up for them.

My hubby waters our plants. So I can't be blamed for them dyeing. I love the sun/moon and the planters.
ReplyDeleteLove all of your wall art, especially the sun/moon. We have alot of Mexican artwork around here, but I don't think I've seen one like that. Thanks for stopping by, amazing story about your husband's band! What an experience. His music store looks like a place my hubby could get lost in for sure. And yes, we love Beck's latest protege - she is quite amazing. Kathy
