Okay we all know the drill. I have been tagged by Jane @ Key Lime Berry to tell you 10 things about me. Doesn't matter if you are interested or not. Jane said I have to do it. Sorry.
I have written 25 things you might not know about me before and you can read them here. I will now try for 10 new things about me that will be irresistibly entertaining and or thought provoking.
I have written 25 things you might not know about me before and you can read them here. I will now try for 10 new things about me that will be irresistibly entertaining and or thought provoking.
- I am French and Metis. I have done my family history back to the late 1500's and have only included people who I have a source for my information. When I was growing up my mother was not interested in having us know about the Aboriginal part of our heritage. It was not something they were proud of in her day and they were mistreated because of it. I am proud.
- I have so many projects going at one time but I sometimes take years to finish something. I have been working on a huge Father Christmas cross stitch for about 4 years now. I have many more waiting to be opened. At least I have stopped buying more. They are all of Father Christmas
- I collect the old fashioned Santas/ Father Christmas. I don't like the Coke style or the cutesy ones. They need to be unusual and or folk arty. I have almost 100. I also paint some and this is my favorite one that I painted below. Yes I did that and I am proud of it too.
- I really wish I had an opportunity to go to university when I was younger. We lived on welfare and the school counselors didn't bother to advise us "kids from the projects" that you could get scholarships, part time jobs, bursaries, etc. to go to school. We basically didn't bother nor were we encouraged to go in to the academic classes like algebra or biology. I did take cooking and sewing though. Woo hoo. I thought you had to be a millionaire to go to university. Would I bother to go now at age 52? Nah, I am happy with who I am now. Who needs to take on that kind of work at this point?
- I have really good instincts about people and make up my mind about them in minutes. I haven't been wrong so far. I get a vibe from them and know right away they are not who they seem to be. Good thing I don't say "I told you so" all the time.
- I would like to be a kick @$$ fighter like Uma Thurman in Kill Bill. I would like to tune up some people who really have it coming. I would only use my skills on the real creeps. Really. I promise. Send me names and I will see what I can do.
- I see things as really black and white. You know what is right and what isn't. You can't just change the facts around to excuse your behavior. "You are entitled to your own opinions but you are not entitled to your own facts".
- I talk trash while driving my car. Not road rage but lots of Hey moron get going (okay and worse stuff) sort of talk and not so they know it. I just babble it to myself or my passenger.
- I make fun of almost everything. There is always a chuckle or a joke running through my head when people speak. I know better than to always spit it out but you can bet it is in there in my head...my inside voice. Usually my filter works. Usually.
- I am a pretty loyal person. I have been with my husband for 34 years. I still have friends from high school. People tell me their deepest darkest secrets and they know I will keep my mouth shut. I am trustworthy. I like that.
Well you all know what comes next don't you. I need to tag some people to get this
- Shirley @ Shirley's World
- Robin @ There is Always Thyme for...
- Joanne @ Joanne Moving Forward-half speed I know Joanne is away for a couple more days but I will bug her when she gets back.
- Ali @ A Second Age
- Linda @ Flipside
Hi Lori, I'll accept your challenge, but just not tonight...I promise I'll get to it sometime this week. ~ Robyn
ReplyDeleteI like learning more about you, Lori! my impression of you is that you are feisty!!
ReplyDeleteLove the "filter in my head". LOL! I surely need one!
xoxo
Jane
Cool Lori. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteWow these were great new facts about you, Lori. Thank you for peeling away layers and baring a little more about your splendid you.
ReplyDeleteGrazie! (we have a lot in common, all chocolate fetish aside. Especially #5 and #8!!)
Lola
A Christmas collector eh? I didn't know that. I loooove Christmas, in fact the entire last quarter of the year is my favourite. Hence my Holiday Hollow blog. I'd love to see more photos of your Santa collection chicka.
ReplyDeleteRelate also to no 4 (which I'm remedying, all these years later, this Fall by starting my BA History degree!) and no 7. The latter gets me in trouble sometimes as, unfortunately, Life is seldom so simplified. Though it should be g.d. it!
And you've tagged me....arrggg! I've posted twice today. I promise I'll make it Wednesday's post!
Ali
The inside of my car when I am driving sounds like it might match yours, when you are driving.
ReplyDeleteI, too make fun of everything.
Everything.
I know.
ReplyDeleteXOLucy.
Hi Lori, I posted a photo with words last week, and it seems to have caught on. Some others have decided to do the same, you are welcome to join in. I don't think that we are going to call it a meme. There are no rules etc. If you would like to join in, just let me know. Oh and if you have any ideas how to install Mr. Linky???? please let me know.
ReplyDeleteJen
After all that I forgot to comment on your post today, sorry.
ReplyDeleteI like that fact that you own up to being frustrated with other drivers. I think that my car sounds just like yours also.
Jen
I'm up to the challenge. Have to give it a good thinking. Hey, I collect Santa's too! Although I am trying to downsize a bit....maybe I should send a few your way ;-)
ReplyDeleteCan I delay my tag until the weekend - or later Friday?? I LOVED reading about your ten items and I could have written a few myself.
ReplyDeleteOk done -- kind of enjoyed thinking of 10 things. I look forward to finding out about your blog friends.
