I was wondering what makes a reader leave a comment on a blog.
Here are the results of the one week poll that was on my site.
I think it is absolutely hilarious that nobody chose the one that says:
You never leave a comment.
What makes you leave a comment on a blog?

And I'm so "out of it" this week that I didn't even see it....I never leave a comment, ever.
ReplyDeleteNo wait,
I go to several very good blogs, that have followers, sometimes not many. But I am an old Old woman who is very new to blogging/computers. But, I have been very fortunate to learn a couple very weird lessons right up front.
I feel bad for the blogger who has gone to the trouble of giving a part of themselves out there for approval or disapproval...and no one says a damn thing. So, I say something, even if it is trite and stupid...to let them know SOMEBODY bothered to read it and took the time to say so.
The really weird part for me is to know that hundreds of people will read a blog and maybe twenty out of say 800+ will comment....still boggles my mind. So when I get eight comments, I feel like I've hit the jackpot.
Comments are important to me, so I suppose we wouldn't be blogging if nobody gave a damn.
ReplyDeleteps: Yes, show us what you bought at the Berry farm!

Now girl if I come by ...I have to comment ha ha!! hey I'm a mouth you know...and I also will take the time when I find a blog that no one comments on to say something to them...Also if I see a blog with only a few followers I will add them to my list so I can be sure and leave a comment to them...hey its all about caring and sharing...May you have a great weekend my friend...Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteI have been on a boat in the middle of Lake Shasta this week, so I didn't get to vote, but if I could, I would have said I agree with @eloa.
ReplyDeleteComments are key to blogs one chooses to follow.
I am sill working on that list right now. If I clicked to follow a blog and it later turns out to not be my type, (Too religious and churchy, Not my personality type, etc.) I just unclick.
If I like the blogger's personality, I want them to know I appreciate their spunk, intelligence, and sarcasm, and to keep it coming!
Lori,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like everyone is in agreement that comments are important. But how do you feel when you go to a blog over and over, and the blogger doesn't return the visit? I mean, it's possible that they just don't like your blog but this has even happened to me several times when participating in an event so obviously I have something in common with that person(s). It reminds me of wanting to be friends with the most popular girl on the playground!! And it is rude.

Blogging is very interactive for me! I try to leave a positive comment, even if the content doesn't strike a cord.
ReplyDeleteThe only time I don't, is if the blog in question never comments on any of my entries, so I assume it's not important to them.
Have a nice weekend!
I think we all find blogs that interest us for various reasons and those are the ones that we just seem to follow. Interesting poll. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteYes, this is interesting. I almost always leave a comment. Sort of like passing by a friend and not at least waving hello! But I'm like someone who already commented. Too churchy, religious, out-there political or full of nothing but kid stuff and I'm out of there too. Not anything against kids. Just that mine are grown, and there's not much in common there. Nothing against religion: just not my thing. If I comment on someone else's for awhile, and they never comment on mine, I stop going there too. But if I like someone, we have things in common, and they reciprocate, I'm there. Ya know?

Oh, can I add something? It would be so much easier to comment if people would take off those damned letter/number thingies you have to type in! I'm getting too cranky and blind for that!

Lori- I have been at the beach so I missed your poll. One of the reasons I leave comments is that I feel as if I have made some friends through blogging and I like to stay connected! I even missed y'all while I was away :) You keep posting; I'll keep commenting!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are great and we seem to be of like mind.
ReplyDeleteI try really hard to visit and comment on every site of the people who have commented on my site. I check out every post of the blogs that I follow and only rarely have I not left a comment.
When I participate in a meme I start by visiting as many of the sites that I have never been to before first, followed by any who have come by my site, then lastly however many I can find the time for within about 48 hours.
I don't comment on a post referring to religion as I am completely and utterly religion free. I don't feel there is any need for me to offer an opinion on someone else's religion and choices.
Lastly most of my comments are filled with sarcasm, humour and jokes. I laugh out loud every day many times and I try to see the humour in everything...even the serious stuff. I always mean it with kindness and not mean spirited.
I gotta go now and visit all of your sites before you cut me off. Ta ta.
Well, being up here in the northwoods playing and posting Brunhilda and Borris posts, I MISSED seeing this in time to vote. I WOULD have said - - - all of the above, EXCEPT of course the one about never leaving a comment. I'm the comment queen, Hehehehehehe
