OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY - HOW MY GARDEN GROWS, AND GROWS, AND GROWS

Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer is still away this week but she has put Mr. Linky up so we can still participate. Stop by and see the amazingly long list of blogs to choose from. Some weeks I start at the beginning some at the end and work backwards. Sometimes I try to find as many new bloggers as I can. This is such a popular one that I don't know if I will ever get through them all. I certainly will visit you if you have left a comment on my site though.

I have neglected my garden this year terribly. First we had poor spring weather then I was busy doing other things like spending a week re-staining our deck. Old wood sucks up a lot of stain but that is a story for Met Monday.
In spite of my neglect things are growing, some better than others. Let's see what we have here:

Taken from the driveway you can see the perennial sweet peas dangling over the edge.

My advice to anyone who is planting Alostromeria is to keep it in a big pot and not in the ground. These suckers take over the whole area every year. My friend a couple blocks away is a great gardener and yet for some reason they won't grow in her yard. Apparently neglect appeals to them. I don't remember what this plant is but it blooms all season and needs a lot of dead heading. It is a great plant though. The white allysum is self seeded and comes back every year. You know I love the daisies. These were here when we moved in 26 years ago. I have moved them around and divided and shared them and they keep on going and going like the you know who bunny. For whatever reason this year my delphinium didn't collapse in a heap when I wasn't looking. It has been looking good for a couple weeks.Ah the yellow rose in my front yard. It is a short one but the flowers are so amazing. They smell great too.
My Victorian planter is filling in. It is on the top deck right outside my dining room French doors. This is a closer look at the begonia and impatiens in that stand.Every year I plant some Angel's Wings begonias or Devil's Wings depending on what I can find. They will be dragging on the ground by the time September comes around and you won't even see the sides of the pot it is in. Add to that a Beidermier Fuchsia and some more impatiens and this planter will be brilliant.

  1. Lori, your garden is amazingly abundant! And I just love your delphiniums. There I go loving all things blue! :-) And the color of your yellow roses are incredible, too. You may say that your garden is neglected, but you just have a very green thumb, my dear! Flowers apparently like you lots. The proof is in the photos. :-)

    Happy Outdoor Wednesday...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)
