I am absolutely appalled that ANYONE is supporting Roman Polanski. Appalled. What are you thinking? The man gave alcohol and prescription drugs to a 13 year old girl. THIRTEEN. Yes I know I am yelling. How dare anyone say well yes it was rape but it wasn't rape-rape. There is no watering down of rape. Statutory or otherwise it is RAPE. (adding in here: the 13 year old girl was also sodomized) Oh my god what are these Hollywood people thinking? And all his supporters in France? Mon dieu! Imbéciles!
Do you ever watch Dateline NBC with Chris Hansen. They are arresting people for this very thing and we are all glad of it. We cheer and say yes get these pedophiles off the streets. We make people register as sex offenders. We send teachers to prison (rightfully so) for having sex with their students. Protect the children not the adult. Oh by the way did you know that in 1980 Polanski had a sexual relationship with the then 15 year old Natassja Kinski? I believe Polanski would have been around 47 years old at that time. Yes he really learned that little girls were off limits didn't he. Pedophile. Shame on any of you who support this man. Shame.
I totally agree with you on your statements about Polanski. He is a total slum bag and criminal of the worst sort.
ReplyDeleteOn Pendictin... my husband has quite a few relatives there. They say it is wonderful!
Have a great evening... and I bet at 4:30 in the afternoon it's not 92 degrees like it is here. Ugh!!

As a survivor of rape, this guy is a pig and belongs in prison. Hard core. Close the doors and throw away the key. He others like him make me sick.
ReplyDeleteIn the news, A young in a third world country just died trying to give birth to a child. 12 years young. SICK
Oh lawd don't get me started on this one Lori just don't. I could cus like a sailor and swing a louisville slugger a mad woman. Sicksicksick
I agree absolutely. I think in some places "sleazebag" and "sophisticate" are synonymous. (Hey, why does spell-checker ping me for sleazebag? it's a real word...)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with you 100% (and more if that were mathematically possible) about this! This guy is scum of the worst kind. Rape is rape - of anyone! Rape of a child is something that makes my brain explode!
ReplyDeleteWhat are Hollywood people thinking? That anything goes for them and if this guy gets off then they can move on with their own perv way of life and - who knows? - maybe even get a lucrative book/movie deal out of it. The rest of them are thinking "Maybe I'll get to star in/direct/produce the lucrative movie and win an Academy Award." At the very least "a creative leader of their 'art' can come home." All sarcasm intended.
The other problem is . . . so many people don't remember what he did because the coward has been in his "safe place" for so long. This cannot go unpunished and I say hooray for extradition!
As for France - Just remember what Prof. Henry Higgins said: "The French don't care so much what you do as long as you pronounce it properly."
Now, here is the big question... Will he get what he deserves or will our, less than stellar at protecting the victims, court system let us down? He will be in the wacked-out 9th District Federal Court, you know. And I say that as a resident of said district with all the malice in my little heart for them all. Hmmm...go ahead, move him from LA County up here and put me on the jury. I think I'm about due for jury duty!
Why are we expected to forgive the most horrendous crimes if the perpetrator is an "artist". I for one am sick and tired of people using this as excuse for any type of despicable behavior. As you pointed out, we cheer when a pedophile is arrested and convicted. Why is this man any different? Thud, thud, thud - that's the sound of me beating my head against the wall! Kathy
ReplyDeleteSighs - its all so stupid and sad!!! Lori you said it very very well.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you gave us all a place to rant! What are these people thinking? Obviously, they feel that their behavior, and those of their friends are 'above the pale'! That ordinary, normal laws are for us 'peasants' and do not apply to them!
ReplyDeleteLet him go, and what that tells everyone is 1. That laws only apply if you aren't rich, in the movie industry,or a politician, and 2. If you've got enough money to leave the U.S. and go to a country that won't send you back to the U.S., you can live as you please.
Rape is rape. The girl was 13. Even if it had been consensual, which it was not, it was rape and he should be punished!
Totally agree with you and I could not believe what I heard some people saying about rape. I guess if you repeat the word twice, rape rape, the phrase has a different meaning then if you use it once, RAPE! OMG...what has happened to people. Why are they justifying something so horrendous?
ReplyDeleteShame...shame on them!
