Remember my post on the Old School Market last month? What? You haven’t seen it?
Quick….go read it here…I’ll wait…………..
As I went through the show introducing myself and asking permission to photograph the various booths I came across Colleens booth. When I gave her my card she said “I know your blog”. I was so surprised. I have never run into anyone who has read my blog all on their own.
Colleen’s blog is Vintage Home. You are gonna love her blog. Tell her I said hi. Anyway while I was browsing through her things a young woman spotted a ladder in the corner. I was busy buying some damask napkins at this point and hadn’t seen the ladder yet.
Oh crap I thought….I want that. I waited to see what she would do. She was sticking to it and she wondered aloud how much it cost. I was taking up valuable retail space in front of Colleens booth so I had to speak up or move. I asked loudly how much the ladder was. We were given a price and I asked her point blank if she was going to take it. She declined and that cute little chippy, paint spattered, green ladder came home with me.
My son carried it into the house for me when I got home and I said to him “just put it upstairs”. When I got in the house I saw he had leaned it up against our river rock fireplace and it looked good there, the green paint matching perfectly with some of the greenish river rock pieces. For now that is where it will stay. Good eye son.
The ladder does look good there-enjoy! Happy Weekend Lori:@)
ReplyDeleteI read the post when you first published it, and I know Colleen, as you already know.
ReplyDeleteBut here's a funny thing, I think my Dad has almost the same ladder hanging outside of his workshop.
Next time I go there, I am checking it out. Funny ha?

Oh! It is beautiful! Great find. I like the colours. I have a similar one in my kitchen and I hand my towels on it. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
It looks perfect there. Wonder if that gal reads your blog and is kicking herself now...
ReplyDeleteI love it! When I got my little kitchen ladder, at first I thought it was a real antique ladder, but it isn't, though it is made of old weathered wood.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic in that spot!
ReplyDeleteThat looks delightful...smart son! Thanks for the pictures I will be bloggig about it over @ my spot!
ReplyDeletep.s. Just got a booth at Village Antique Mall....july!
You gotta speak up and be heard if you want something, right Lucy? I ran into the same thing tonite at a garden/antique show. I walked over to a gorgeous planter and some old broad said SHE was looking at it! The nerve.... unless she had it in her hot little hands and was on her way to pay for it, that sucker was fair game.... Needless to say- she didn't go home with it! Girlfriend, you did great! I love that pretty green ladder and it looks good against the fireplace. :-) Ethel
