I am wondering what is up with the stats on our blogs.
How does a post I did over a year ago get 17 page views in one week? Was there some big news story I missed on raccoons and me? Hmmmm..nah I don’t think so.
This is just a partial list. There is no rhyme or reason to what is showing up in my stats.
So you are telling me that 10 people looked at a post from December 2009 this week about Christmas At Rockaway Rest Home ? Really?? In June? Not likely.
So how about you? Do your blog stats look like a fairy tale or are they likely accurate? If they are this skewed then why bother.
well, I had to go back and check and mine look a lot like yours. In fact I have the same number of page views that you do only on different posts...hmmmm. Accurate..I think not. What is the point...blogger is truly having issues. Now I'm going to have to go back and read about racoons...
ReplyDeleteI think analytics are like weathermen... the best you can do is get the report from 3 or 4 different ones and average them. :)
ReplyDelete(Personally, I am liking Histats quite a bit.)
I don't hold too much stock in the stats. According to them, for weeks now 'Olive Oyle' has been the search that's brought the most visitors to my site. Weird...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your long weekend:@)
Nope they are not accurate. How could I have more comments than they say I have had page views. The visitor counter is wrong too. In one day mine went backwards by 200! I removed it!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first started blogging, I looked at the stats frequently. They never made a whole lot of sense then, and they still don't now! I find them amusing, and I'm not sure how accurate the stats are! As we all know, blogger has its issues from time to time! :)
ReplyDeleteLike I said before, there's lies, damned lies and then there's statistics.

Well one of my posts apparently got over 550 hits on one day alone, no kidding. Now we all know that's just a fantasy for our kind of bloggers. Interestingly enough my other stats counter registered only around 60. So ...... who do you believe?

I think blogger uses a random number generator to produce stats (come to think about it, that might be more accurate). I rarely look at them, but I looked now after your post - I've got a number of posts with over 25 comments but only 1 pageview. Since I don't understand how the stats are generated, I think they're meaningless.
ReplyDeleteSo, not only are my stats completely out of whack, but 234 page views from the last month were referred by your site, Lori! Um, thanks!! =p
ReplyDeleteI haven't figure out the whole STATs thing yet. I look but don't really understand the info :(
ReplyDeletePerhaps you need a new stat counter? Though I never know if I can trust the things either....
ReplyDeleteI get the most "hits" on The Man on Page 602" and "Altered Clothing."
ReplyDeleteThat's probably right.
