When you find a cousin or other relative while working on your family tree that is a great joy and reward for all your work. When you see that they have some of the same photographs that you have seen in your own home growing up you really "get it". You know that there are others out there that share your genetic background and are a product of all that have gone before.
They are family.
My grandmother is the little girl in the front with her hands in her lap.

Hi Lori,
ReplyDeleteYour family photograph is the perfect treasure.I love sepia.
I have traced my family back to the late 1600's but found that it ended up taking over my life! (a bit like blogging is doing now!LOL)I was awake til 2am searching for relations. It was fascinating to do and I've found and met up with so many cousins that I didn't even know existed!
Have a great day!
I have always said it is like they come alive when you find them.It is such a great feeling to make that link, that connection.
ReplyDeleteI notice the name Carriere. Are your people from Quebec, Lori?
ReplyDeleteEvelyn in Montreal
Hi Evelyn. Yes they are originally from Quebec. The earliest one born in Quebec was Charles Carriere, b. 1678 in Notre Dame Parish, Quebec. He was my 7th. Great Grandfather. By 1819 my Carrieres had moved to Manitoba where Moise Carriere was born. He was my 2nd. Great Grandfather.

Love this photo. I have a lovely photo of my maternal Grandmother as a child with her entire family. It is a treasure because when her parents both died she and her siblings were all sent off to the orphanage.
ReplyDeleteHi again Lori,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the answer!
