I was sure when I bought my vacuum sealer that I would be sealing up every
thing in sight. Meat, sure. Fresh produce, why not? Baking, of course. I have even vacuum sealed my toothbrush to go on a trip. Of course getting it sealed up to come home again never occurred to me.
Then the reality of the price of the rolls of plastic for sealing things in hit
home. Holy crap. I thought I would be clever and just seal up the much more
economical zip lock bags. No chance. It doesn't work. Vacuum sealer people you
won that round. Sneaky. I will admit the food comes out of my freezer in
great shape. No freezer burn or ice crystals anywhere.
Well if this worked so well for my food then of course the vacuum bags for
storage of clothing and bedding will be great too. I sealed up all the bedding
for my hide-a-bed, pillows too. They fit so nicely on the shelf, all compacted
and clean. Then we were expecting guests.
You can not imagine how bad the bedding smelled when I took it out. It was clean and fresh when it went in but came out smelling of some awful petroleum product from the plastic storage bags. It just needs to air out I thought. Ya right. Back to the laundry room. The only other vacuuming I will be doing is on the dog hair that blankets my floors.
