Chari @ Happy to Design is hosting Sunday Favorites for us again.
Went to the local pub last night for drinks and burger with my BB. (and the fellow snowmobile crasher, JL cuz his sweetie is in England) Not particularly romantic was it? I am so not into the whole Valentines Day torture. Poor men. I think they get a bad rap on this one. I think my man should make me feel loved, needed and wanted on a daily basis and not let it all hinge on a made up DAY. The flowers are marked up triple the price, the restaurants are packed, the jewelry stores have line ups out the door (we wish). The expectations are out of this world. A recipe for disaster. Except for the jewelry part. I would accept jewelry. Just a medium size diamond. Not too big.

My Valentine present today was a single red rose, romantic,I hear you say,but this rose was plastic and given away by the local supermarket.!!!! I got the same rose, from the same place last year, hubby, says they will last for ever,a fresh rose will wither in a day or so.I am not sure weather I believe in his sentiment (romantic )or to believe he just forgets and has come up with something clever to confuse me.!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right. All just for the merchants to make a buck. Or many. A diamond would work for me too. LOL But I settled for Truffles. hehehe I thought it was your post the other day where I saw the sign Nobody knows the truffles I've seen. How hilarious. Think I'll do a greeting card that says that. LOL Too funny.
ReplyDeleteHi sweet friend...
ReplyDeleteHehe! Girl, you're too cute! Just a medium sized diamond, eh? Well, I'm one of "those" who love Valentine's Day but I totally agree with you that we should love and be loved on a daily basis!
Girlfriend, I just read your comment on Keetha's post. So you have started back to work full time? What are you doing? Sheeesh...I hope that I'm not being too nosey! Hehe! Was just curious! I hope that you're enjoying getting out into the workplace! Well...dear lady, have a wonderful weekend and (shhhh...a Happy Valentine's Day!)

Happy Valentine's Day and congratulations on your anniversary. Have a wonderful day. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteI love your cute story, and yes jewelry will always work! Pink and white phlox hey? I think I need to plant some of those. Let me see pics when you get them going! Cindy
ReplyDeleteLori,
ReplyDeleteMy husband and me so agree with you! I guess i started back when women really weren't appreciate all year like they should have been.....poor things! I am not into jewelry either...not a girly girl at all......so we went out to Chinese food last night, he worked and took a late lunch....it was nice. He works today too, so I am on my own. Have a good week! Sandy
On the way home from church today, I stopped a "el cheapo" store, bought two Dove candy bars, came home handed one to Fisherhubby, then we EXCHANGED them, said "Happy Valentine's Day" and gave each other a little peck.
ReplyDeleteIt was thrilling.
Hey - - - what do you expect from folks who have been married for nearly 25 years?
I'm not a girl who cares about the Hallmark holiday of extreme pressure we have all come to know as Valentine's Day. I'm also not a diamond person, because I know where they come from and how slave labour is the source of the shiny rocks that De Beer's has branded as the "necessary unecessary". Watch "Diamond Road" to find out what I mean...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3UnSWlAoos
ReplyDeleteI'll wish you Gung Hay Fat Choy instead, because today is Chinese New Year and I'll seal it with some x's and o's ;)
Happy valentines Day, Lori!
ReplyDeleteI agree...we should show our love to our beloveds year round! Presents are nice...but they need not be restricted to one or two days a year when specific gifts are marked way up!
Thanks for stopping by!
We went out for dinner with some good friends, LAST NIGHT! IT wasn't crowed nor was anything a 'special." Me and my guy just buy cards and a teeny box of chocolates. All goopy and gushy and each year they get more and more alike. We joke that one year we'll buy the same one!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is a made up day, but then again, Halloween, and Easter celebrations are getting out of hand also. We try not to buy in it. Who needs to spend over $7 on a card? Silly.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I do make Gar a card, and he gets me a card, and something sweet. But we know that we love each other all year round, not just on this day. So what's in the heart is what counts.
Jen
Happy Valentine's day to you and your honey my friend...Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
