I have to say I am feeling out of sorts lately. I don’t like it when things are up in the air. I like to know what is going to happen when.
I don’t like it when I am at the mercy of the decisions of others. When I have to wait upon others to do things or decide things it makes me cranky.
We plan on selling our home this year. I think. Yes. No. YES.
So now we have to get it ready to sell. Do we do it before our son moves out, working around him and his ever growing collection of his own furniture and household items he is amassing for his move or do we wait until he is out before we spruce up and show a house?
Do we sell and then not find the right place to move to when it is time to give up possession? I don’t want to be rushed to move out buying a place that really isn’t what I want. No! I won’t do that.
So do you buy a new place and hope like hell you sell your old place? I would prefer to find the place I want…which I did but it sold before we made up our minds…that is another story….move into this new place at our leisure and clean out our old place and do the necessary repairs and fixes on an empty house so we don’t have to work around furniture and stuff to get it ready to sell.
I really don’t want to have to keep things clean and tidy, ready for inspection (doubt that I could) nor do I want to have to finish working a 10 hour day only to have to vacate my home so someone can poke through it.
The housing market in the Vancouver suburbs is always booming. That is not a concern. The concern is that I am part of a family and I don’t get to make all the decisions….otherwise… we would be already talking about my new residence! Lol.
I am the worst when it comes to moving. We've been back and forth over selling for about two years. Do we move closer to the kids? wait till Spring? And then there is the actual move...hire out? It may just be the only way I'll get my house organized and cleaned up again. Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteRent storage space - start moving stuff you want to keep into it. Get your home MARKET ready.
ReplyDeleteUncluttered it (yes, you are a great cook and need all that stuff, but JOE BUYER has an average cook for a wife).
STAGE your house for SALE
Once you get an offer, and are ready to accept find a nice cottage (look now for this sort of thing) to rent on a short term basis.
Then start looking. Don't rush!
OH and Good Luck.. . ..
I love moving - setting up my new home and redecorating is exciting and I get to purge a lot of 'stuff'. I generally make the closing date of the house I'm moving from a day before the new house deal closes. That only works if there's a way to get out of the deal if you need to. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI've got it - move in with DS for a while after you sell and until you find the perfect house! Just kidding! It's a toughie - we've been trying to sell for sometime now with no success, and no good reason for lack of success. Consequently we've seen a few houses come and go that we might have liked to buy, but happy we didn't make any offers as we'd have felt so much more pressure. Good luck on your new adventure!

ReplyDeleteI'll envy you when all is said and done and you are settled in your dream home, but I don't envy you now. We have no plans to move until our health forces us to, but I know I have to downsize "stuff" if not the house yet. So as I'm routinely "deep cleaning" a room or a closet this year, I'm decluttering seriously. That's assuming I have all the time in the world.
ReplyDeleteBill Manners' advice makes good sense to me.
My DD3 just bought a home and has asked for her "stuff" that is stored here. That in itself will open up lots of storage room.
Wishing you all the best, hopefully minimal stress.
Which ever way you choose, I am sending good thoughts, and well wishes for a smooth sale, and move.
ReplyDeleteExciting!

Before I typed this, I prayed for wisdom for you, my friend.
ReplyDeleteSuch hard decisions have to be made.
I do hope that all goes perfectly....whichever decision you make.
Hugs,
