In the 5 years that I have been blogging I have “met” some amazing people. I have met artists, moms, business people, caretakers, young people, not so young people. Writers and creators. People who support others in the trials of life even when their own trials are mindboggling.
What is it about blogging that brings so many people from different backgrounds together in such an informal, close group?
Here is what I am thinking about today though. There have been some bloggers who have just disappeared. I think about them and wonder what is going on in their lives. I wonder if they are okay.
I don’t think in these cases it is always just a lack of time. I think there is more to the absence. Lack of time results in sporadic posting or commenting. Not a complete vanishing act.
Some have had devastating life events happen that I know about but others have just disappeared. Not only are they no longer on their own blogs but they do not comment on the blogs that they used to visit regularly.
It is like thinking about your friend from high school that you lost touch with. You think about them and remember them but you have no idea where they are or what they are doing.
I wonder if they realize how many people think about them and care about them? I know for a fact how the blog community at large regularly ask me about some people. Checking to see if I have heard from them. Sadly I haven’t.
Not that these people owe any of us an explanation. I just hope if any of them cruise on by here they know they are thought of often….and I am pretty sure they all know who they are. I can think of 5 of you right off the top of my head.
Take care. Be well. You are thought of and missed.
That's something that has been on my mind occasionally, it's sad when bloggers go away without any explanation. Our minds go to the worst case scenerios...

This is sad. Sometimes a name or a blog will pop into my head and I wonder what happened to that person. I have also heard that blogging is dying out. I wonder if that's true.
ReplyDeleteIf there is one thing I have learned in life...nothing stays the same. On Facebook I recently found a "In Memory Of" page for my high school. I was so saddened to read of several people I knew well that had died. It was very shocking. I live no where near the town I grew up in so I never hear much. I'm connecting more these days with people I grew up with and I enjoy it very much. I think they wondered where I went, too.
Sometimes I wonder if you will stop blogging...you don't seem to post as often. I know you have time constraints with your job. Just hoping you don't plan to close shop anytime soon.
XO,
Jane
I so agree with you about bloggers who just disappear. Some of them had really successful blogs and no signs of stopping were even mentioned in their last post. I too wonder if something bad happened in their lives or did they just stop. I guess we will never know...just hoping they are okay and maybe some will come back.

Its interesting that you should say this. In the last week 2 bloggers that I know with successful, long running blogs, have had to put them on hold for awhile because of family issues. Most of the bloggers who I initially followed that encouraged me to start a blog, now have moved on. Peoples lives and priorities just change I guess.
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet....
ReplyDeleteAnd, I'm with you, my friend.
I love and miss my blogging friends when I don't hear from them.
Thank you for a post that speaks what my heart feels.
Hugs to you,
Jackie
I can't imagine not blogging now that I have done so for so long and have met such wonderful people, but, I agree with you. I can name at least ten bloggers that have just disappeared. I, like you, wonder if they are okay. I was just talking about this very thing on fb...lots of lost names no one seems to know of. Hope we keep in touch!!!
ReplyDeleteI have had the same thoughts I wonder if they are ok or if they have just given up blogging no time . One thing we all have in common in the blog land is well the obvious blogging and enjoying sharing , caring and helping each other . What ever those used to be bloggers are hope they are having the time of their life and are just to busy to blog about it ! Good post ! Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteLucy- you know I'm still on FB. :-) Blogging just became a bit of a chore and I just stopped wanting to keep up with the Jones'es. Maybe one day I'll get back to it- who knows? I still like to pop in on my pals though. Keep in touch. xo Ethel
ReplyDeleteI saw your post and thought I would just say hi. I am one of those hit and miss bloggers lately. Just can't come up with anything interesting to say. Valerie
ReplyDeleteThis was serendipity to come across this post as I scrolled down ... as soon as I came here from mosaic monday (currently your latest post) I recognized your blog (who could forget your family tree of nuts ;>)) and I thought 'oh I used to visit this blog quite often.' But it has been a while. Sometimes that happens in blogdom as in real life -- you'll visit back and forth with someone and feel as if you're friends -- or at least good neighbors ... and then somehow you lose track of each other.
ReplyDeleteSo, also just as if it were real life,I really enjoyed getting reacquainted on this visit!! Thanks for popping by Full-Time-Life so that I could link up again!!!!
