( Note: I have only had one bad comment and I dealt with him. Thanks to all of you including my sister who called long distance to see if I was okay. This is just a general post about the subject.)
Did you ever get a comment, usually from that nasty anonymous person, that made you want to pinch someone?(I am trying not to use profanity here so substitute the correct word for these important ones. You know what they are.)
You know the ones. Out of the blue you get a stupid face comment from someone who insults your blog or reams you out over your opinion or decision.
This person tries to belittle you and your accomplishments or they full out attack you.
Perhaps they accuse you of something that is simply not true.I have known of bloggers who closed up their blogs over some attacks.
We can all use a little backup sometimes and now we have it. Vivienne @ The V Spot and Mandi @ Vintage Revivals have created a soft place to land when we have been slagged on our very own blogs. Click on the icon to go see their new blog.
"If you have a comment or email that ticked you off WE WANT IT!! Overly critical? Unnecessarily snarky? Flat out nasty? Send it in!"
Go by and have a look. They are just beginning. You can put in your link to your post with the nasty comment. You are not alone.
Hmmm. I wonder what happens if I really do write something stupid or if I really deserve the comment. Nah...that would never happen.
Good post. I checked out that blog and it's great...I think it will be very popular. Diane
ReplyDeleteThanks Lori, for bringing my attention to this! I will check out the blog, sounds interesting and yes, like it could be very popular! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteOn your blog, or Facebook? I don't do Facebook. I don't allow anon comments. Such cowards!
ReplyDeleteI have to go check that out!
I guess they weren't taught, if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all! :)
Checked it out, they use word verification! Oh no! Hey where is your word verification free blog button?
ReplyDeleteThank goodness, I haven't received a nasty comment yet, but I've been blogging less than a year. I just don't get people. Haven't they heard the saying, "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all!"?
ReplyDeleteI've had some weird comments, but never mean. I'll check out this link. Sorry it had to happen to you.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Luckily, I haven't had any bad, anonymous feedback YET! I'm with Heather...my Mom always taught me that if I didn't have anything good to say, then to say nothing. I just can't believe the NERVE of some people! Then again, if they post anonymously ...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out. Didn't know about the word verification on comments. I turned it off.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm going right over to check this out. I've only had a couple of nasty-nasty mean kind of things, always anonymous, of course. Big chickens. Aaannny-who, I'm off to check out the blog; what a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteI have only had one unkind comment and luckily, I have comment approval on my blog. I guess some people aren't happy unless they have something to complain about!
ReplyDeleteThis is just too awful! Because I'd heard of this kind of thing some time ago, I took the 'Kind-Hearted Blogger Pledge'. It's unbelievable how some people think they have the right to be nasty! Anyway - I'll join in with this, too (jut in case) - check out my blog for the KHB pledge - it's on the left side-bar, right at the top. Oh, and BTW - sorry to hear you had such a bad experience - don't quit blogging, these are just crabby people - and you're just too nice for some of those kinds of folks!
ReplyDeleteYeah, this site is fun, huh? I love it. LOL
ReplyDeleteI like the idea, it's novel. I have my blogs set to author approval for all comments, so the spam and nasties are wasting their own time, not mine.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been slammed yet. Guess I'm not big-time enough?! LOL I'll go check it out. Maybe even leave a snarky comment about the word verification?! tee hee.....
ReplyDeleteI love the idea. If only I hadn't delleted the one rude comment from my husbands Aunt that I received. Acutally I may have a copy I can dig up.....hummmmm. Wouldn't that be sweet justice. Nothing like being critized as a genealogist for not really knowing Grandpa and not taking the time to come visit when you live hundreds of miles away on a beer budget....... when you've written an article about grandpa and wanting to know more about his family. No one in the family likes her and this was the one time I wished I lived closer. I would have pinched the little judgmental winch.
