My question is where on earth do these snippets come from? What do they mean? Nothing I know but what if they did.
Here are some of the recent ones I have had to type in. What would your definition of these "words" be?
- tacrocra - a South American vegetable similar to okra
- puticar - a car for Lilliputians
- ingoeste - an ancient word for eating as in "ingoeste thy food"
- sothe - how you feel after you ingoested your food
- deopun - a joke about your deo
- tateduc - a new brand of duct tape
- pockall - an acne medication
- bioner - a pioneer in a biosphere
- fogisci - an Italian fog
- zyman - the way German people say hymen
- murbeke - the hillbilly cousin of William Moerbeke, Flemish translator, which is who we need to get a hold of to translate what all these crazy word verifications mean.
Good Morning Lori, this is too funny...I hate the word thingy...Thanks for the morning laugh my friend...Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteOK, here's me wanting to write this in all CAPS because I feel so STRONGLY about it.
ReplyDeleteI HATE WORD VERIFICATION.
Especially after jumping through that hoop, someone has the nerve to make me do that, and then moderate my comment.
What the heck? WHY? Do one or the other, can you tell I feel strongly about this?
If I had the nerve, I would write a post, but meanwhile I just leave comments on blogs hoping that the subtle way I am commenting will have some effect. How's that working for me? Well it's not.
Meanwhile I fume at having to do both, and hope that someday I will have the nerve to state that I will no longer comment on blogs that require me to do both.
But like you said, I guess I am not famous, or well known enough to have that kind of clout. LOL.
Thank you for allowing me to rant, we now return to our regular programing.
BTW, that's a funny post.
Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams [where there is no word verification, just comment moderation].
Great definitions, Lori! I've been having fun with the "Word Verification Dictionary" for awhile now. The latest bunch is at:

I don't use them either, Lori. They are such a hassle and most of the time I always have to retype them even if I knew I did it right the first time....Christie
ReplyDeleteI agree, so annoying!!! A waste of time. So many bloggers don't even know they have that on their blogs!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this one - I HATE WORD VERIFICATION! It usually crashes my PC, removes my comment and makes me frustrated and teasy!
ReplyDeleteDear Lori, thanks for your visit and telling me about your reality check. I will think of that every time I see that green eyed monster coming my way.
ReplyDeleteI have certainly had my chuckles visiting your repost this week. I have learned a lot. You are a very creative lady. And, thank you Bill for the link to the Word Verification Dictionary. I did not know it existed.
I have to ditto my vote with everything that Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams had to say. I prefer comment moderation but choose to not use either since I work on a Mac.
Also Lori, I hope I have your permission to reuse your quote about fitting into your high school earrings. I can see that becoming a standard with me.
Too funny that I got a spam comment on this post. What a tool.
ReplyDeleteYou are way too funny!
ReplyDeleteLet me take this opportunity to say that I don't use it either and if you do, (I am talking to anyone else who happens to see this) and I do leave you a comment, it's because I reeeeeely like you or I enjoyed your post a lot.
Now that blogger has included a "spam" folder under comments, I haven't had one single spam get through - - - even WITHOUT word veri turned on.
ReplyDeleteI hate it too.
Your definitions are funny!
Hi Lori...
ReplyDeleteMy friend, what an awesome post to revisit! I just about busted a gut laughing!!! I love your definition for pockall!!! Ohhh yes, I have had some "doozies"..word verifications! By the way, I'm with you...I really do find them annoying! I wonder how many times it stops people from leaving comments...because they hate going through all the hoops?
Well my friend, thanks so much for joining in with the fun of Sunday Favorites this week...it's been a hoot! Hehe!
Warmest autumn wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design
I too hate word verification, but I had to add it after receiving dozens of spam comments a day. It just took too long for me to manually delete them. I hate it, but I hate spam even more.
ReplyDeleteI think I've typed in some of those exact 'words',
ReplyDeleteI make a game out of it, and look to see if I can connect that 'word' somehow to my comment or to the comment of the post.
My frustration comes when I comment on one blog with my google account, and even though I am down as 'remain signed in', I can go to another blog and have to type in my email and password again, and then usually the password yet again, to have the comment go through.
