Here is an older post from last March. I thought it would be a fun one to repeat.
I received a long distance phone call this morning from one of my sisters. She told me to turn on the local news and have a look at my "weapon of choice". What did I see there. An old Electrolux vacuum cleaner of course She sure has a long memory. Many, many, many years ago when I was about 4 or 5 years old, in self defense I am sure, I took the metal pipe from my Mom's vacuum and whacked her across the head with it.
I was just a tiny little girl but apparently I had enough muscle to swing that sucker pretty good.
She ran to our Mom's room and woke her from a nap. Mom wasn't happy about the wake up but when she saw the size of the goose egg on my sister's forehead she let out an "OMG".
Now in my defense I must say she must have done something to deserve this because I have never hit anyone since. I also don't remember this so I have to take her word for it.
Mom did what they did in those days...she taped a huge coin tightly to it to try to keep the swelling down. No doctors, no Children's Aid, no clinic.
By the way this same sister used to double me on the back of her bike and she would go so fast I would scream and scream. That I do remember. See I told you she probably deserved it.

The main question...did you put a dent in the metal pipe?? LOL
ReplyDeleteSince I have six sisters I can relate to sudden 'outbursts'..and they always deserved it for some reason!! Remembering some of the paybacks too...
Great post - brought back memories and smiles!!
Ah, siblings. What would we do without them?
ReplyDeleteDid your Mom corroborate this tale, or is your sister just tormenting you with it? I have a sister, too . . .

Too funny girl...I never had a sister but 3 brothers that gave me a run for it all the time...but also were the first ones there to beat the C%#@ out of anyone that gave me a bad time...Everyone in high school was afraid of my oldest Bro...girls wanted to be my friend to meet him and guys were afraid to ask me out...a no win for me ha ha!! Hope you have a GREAT weekend my friend...hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteHey, I always say, unless there is blood coming from the head, your ok! This is a cute story.
ReplyDeleteVery funny story, Lori!! It must have been a good whack if your sis still thinks about it! We did a lot of harmless hair pulling. A lot of pain but no blood (evidence!).

My brothers and sisters deserved every whack they got from me! I whacked a few people in their honor too.
ReplyDeleteMy first vacuum was very similar and it still was the best vacuum ever!
ReplyDeleteMy sister, 6 yrs older then me, hit me in the head with a baseball bat when I was about 5. And she still blames me for it too!
Thanks for the laugh.
ReplyDeleteIt put me into remembering when I was a little girl and put a huge coffee table ash tray into a shopping bag. I twirled it around my head and hit my older sister in the head with it. It momentarily knocked her out. Come to think of it, this may be the cause of whats wrong with her today. LOL
Great Blog...
