This is the baptismal register for my 6
th. Great Grandfather,
Jean Beaugrand who was born in France in 1641. It states his father was
Barthelemy Beaugrand and his mother was Pierrette
Bongard. The names of his godparents are also there and often are a great clue in genealogy. It is difficult to read when you speak the language but when you don't even speak French it is quite a process. I have slowly learned to read the old documents. I learned what most of the main words meant and can now recognize them in even the worst handwriting. Jean was married about 1671 to
Marguerite Sampson in Quebec. He died December 5, 1699 in St. Pierre,
Sorel, Quebec.
Boy those Catholic priests sure kept good records.

CORRECTION: NOTE I HAVE CHANGE THE MOTHER'S NAME TO PIERRETTE FROM PIERRE. THANKS TO RICHARD FOR POINTING THAT OUT.
Lori, this is Richard. There is a mistake on Jean Beaugrand's mother's name, it should read Pierrette Bongard and not Pierre Bongard.
