There is a case going back to court once again in British Columbia that is enough to make me spit nails.
A 46 year old man is being sued by his mother for support. Sound reasonable?
How about a mother who left her 15 year old son alone to go off with his father who was a long haul truck driver along with one of their other sons. Leaving this boy to fend for himself. A mother who never even bothered to contact him again until she wanted money.
She is suing her son, Ken, and four of his five siblings and it has been dragging on for years. She is using a little-used section in B.C.’s Family Relations Act that legally obliges adult children to support “dependent” parents.
Ken spent his youth pumping gas, and couch surfing with friends as he no home. He never got to finish school or even think about higher education.
None of her children except the one who she kept with her talk to her. She dropped her case against him as it would be impossible to collect anything from him as he is in and out of jail.
This woman’s pro bono lawyer says it doesn’t matter what kind of a parent she was they are obligated to support her now.
The other siblings allege that their upbringing was brutal and having to speak of it has caused great distress to them.
She is asking for $750.00 monthly from them.
This woman makes me sick and I will be so furious if she wins her case. A parent is more than just a womb or sperm donor.
I know it costs a lot to raise children but that is a choice we make when we have children. She deserves nothing and i hope she gets it.
I saw that on ctv bc ,what a bloody waste of time..for the other parties.
ReplyDeleteI am not familiar with this case but I'm pretty sure it will hit our news sources soon. Seems like a really strange case and a huge waste of time. I agree...she deserves nothing.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, this will be the catalyst to reverse that ridiculous law! I too hope she gets nothing.
ReplyDeleteThat's disgusting. I'm surprised she has a case, under the circumstances.
ReplyDeleteThose children owe her nothing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a ridiculous waste of court time, but if it can urge the lawmakers to rewrite this law, then it will be worth it.
Geez.
Cass
PS Of course, I may think differently when I'm older and I've spent all my money on crap at Goodwill.
What an incredible waste of time! That mother shouldn't even be allowed to be called one. How could someone be so horrible?
ReplyDeleteWhat a bitch!! I can't imagine being a "mom" like that.
ReplyDeleteOh, I saw this story too and posted a note on my FB wall to my 4 sons that this could set a precedent and they'd better be nice to me....of course I was only kidding - this sorry excuse for a mom really expects this from her kids. I feel bad for the people out there that could really use some pro-bono legal help and can't get it, yet she does. I guess there may be cases where a good parent finds themselves destitute and has selfish kids that could, but won't help them out, so maybe they shouldn't completely do away with this law, but they could certainly rewrite it.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe after abandonment and cruelty that the courts would waste good time and good money on such a case. Speaks volumes for our justice system doesn't it!
ReplyDeleteFrom the sunny skies of the Ponderosa, ya'll have a beautifully blessed day!!! :o)
I can't believe anyone didn't throw this out of court ages ago. The justice system needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't deserve anything, from anyone.

I agree with Jen. I can't believe it made it to the courts. Waste of time and tax payers money.
ReplyDeleteJust disgusting!!! Where is Motherly love when you need it?! There are some people who should be castrated... really. I hate reading posts like these because they piss me off to no length! LOL
