Do you have a bucket list? You know what I mean. Things you would like to do in life before you kick the bucket.
What have you always wanted to do but never have? Or maybe you have done it and would like to do it again.
Some may be wild and crazy like going up into space on a shuttle or they could be as simple as being able to run a mile. You may have a list a mile long or like me have only one thing on it.
Obviously mine is to go to Italy. That is the only thing I am really hoping to do. I want to have a wonderful vacation in Italy full of vente coffees at cafe tables watching the world go by.
Juicy red wines sipped with simple platters of antipasti consisting of fresh figs, olives, salamis, cheeses and of course a loaf of crusty bread.

Visiting a vineyard, seeing the giant barrels of their wines, smelling the sour smells of fermenting grapes and of course sampling their finished products.

Wandering through a market full of eggplants, garlic, tomatoes enjoying the smells and colours of the fresh produce. Is this a romanticized version of Italy? Of course it is but I don't care. This is the only thing in my bucket. Other things may be fun or nice but if they never happen I don't care. Italy must happen.
For the moment there is only one thing in my bucket at home.
Hey Lori-I have been MIA from blogland! Travel would be on my bucket list too--Alaska, Africa,, the Holy Land, Rome, Greek islands, Ireland....I better get started :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good plan to me. Your description made me want to join you!
ReplyDeleteHaving travelled a lot when I was younger I can totally recommend it.
ReplyDeleteWe honeymooned in Italy - Ischia in the Bay of Naples - Fantasitic - we did Capri / Naples / Pompeii / Vesuvius - all of the usual haunts for visitors, and I can totally recommend it!
Mia - I have also done the Holy Land, Egypt, many of the Greek Islands, Canary Islands and Spain.... No I don't have money I promise! - I was lucky enough to work in the travel industry so got a lot of trips for next to nothing.
Europe has many beautiful places to offer, so Yes! if it's on your Bucket List, please try to do it!
As for me? I'm still thinking of something I want badly enough to add to my bucket LOL x
Love this post Lori.
ReplyDeleteThe closest I will get to Italy will probably be
Olive Garden ! I don't have a bucket list, cuz
I don't want to think about the "end". Although
it is the one thing that will deffinately happen
in our lives...hee hee ?
Hugs ~ Kammy
I LOVED THIS POST! Ireland was on our bucket list -- so we went to Ireland and Scotland this past September. I thought I would be satisfied. But no -- the travel bug continues to bite.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered what the 'bucket' part meant...seriously. Obviously, one of the things I need on the list is an education! Italy sounds fun and I don't think you have glamorized it. When I think of going to Europe, I always fantasize about the country and places off the beaten path...never the cities, since I live in one and want to get away. I hope your dream come true, before you trip over that laundry bucket and break a leg {or whatever}.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
I hope you get to Italy soon, the laundry will wait! I've done enough traveling thanks to Uncle Sam. I'd like to write a Christmas song that's a new hit and have it sung on the radio! Something that will be around forever-big dream:@)
ReplyDeleteI have a varied list and have been able to cross off a few things. Some big - some small - some most likely will never happen but you have to have dreams right??
ReplyDeleteI might be sort of doing your item later this year. We are thinking of doing a European cruise and it starts in Venice. Have to see how health and finances go before its a concrete plan. Seeing Europe was one of the items.
All I really want is to finish my house and have a new kitchen. My poor husband, I remind him of this everyday!
ReplyDeleteOh, and trips to New York, France, and/or England wouldn't hurt either! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have a bucket list. And every time I try to write one, I come up blank. We did go to Italy last year and it was wonderful! Do it!!
ReplyDeleteI was JUST thinking about my bucket list this morning. I had ONE thing I really wanted to do but I just can't remember anymore what it was! Next time it pops in my mind, I'd better write it down.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever do make it to Italy, make sure to go to VENICE! Hop in a gondolla and make sure the gondolier sings to you. You will NEVER forget it :)
I hope you get there someday Lori! You would love it there!
ReplyDeleteNope, no list. Not going to happen.
ReplyDeleteI'll bloom where I am I guess. :)
