I have posted photos from my sister and brother-in-law’s garden before. It is one of my favourite places to be.
They built this garden from scratch on their lot after they built their home. It has had so much tender loving care and it thrives. That is amazing because the land is full of shale rock.
This is just a small sampling of what is there. I have posted more photos of their garden previously and you can see those pictures here. Make sure you come back here and have a look at the other photos of their garden. You will love it.
The ones in this post are much earlier in the season. The ones in the link are later. Amazing.
This wisteria has had to be shored up with extra posts due to the weight of it. It provides wonderful shade in the heat of the summer.
There are some interesting pieces in the garden. The metal dog and the planter with faces on it are two whimsical pieces.
The yard has quite a slope down that has been filled with rocks, all brought in by my brother-in-law piece by piece. It was a huge task. The yard is much bigger than it looks in the pictures.
This poppy is one I gave to my sister years before they moved here. She brought a piece of it with her and it is the most amazing peachy/pink colour. It is very happy living amongst the rocks.
By mid summer this planter will be spilling over with colour and textures.
One of my favourite spots in their yard is this side patio. The hydrangea grows in quite a bit bigger than they are now and it is like a hidden garden.
So you can see why this is one of my favourite places to be. Trouble is I wasn’t there for these photos. My sister sent them to me. Now that is a whole other story we won’t go in to here…lol.
Don’t forget to have a look at these photos of the garden that are from mid summer. Click here.
Gorgeous! The Wisteria is absolutely awesome.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful space thanks for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteTheir garden is simply stunning, have they ever been featured in a gardening magazine? They should be, it's quite the accomplishment.

A garden is a labour of love and then some. But think how much pleasure it gives back. Gorgeous photos Lori.

Simply stunning...magazine worthy! I can see why it is your zen place, it is amazing, a lot of love when into those grounds. Sister and BIL did a great job. LOVE it. :) Diane
ReplyDeleteNow this is a gorgeous yard and garden! Your sister certainly has the touch. I think I need to check if wisteria grows here! Hope all is well with you these days. I have had no gumption to post and have been so darn busy that I haven't visited mulch, either. don't forget me, ok? My crazy head has been giving me fits with vertigo- guess that bonk on the head I took a couple of years ago is still haunting me. I don't like feeling dizzy .
