I'M STUMPED! ANY IDEAS

I am putting out a call for technical advice. I am trying to help a fellow blogger with a problem on her site. Her site is Chatelet and her name is Kasia.
She has followers, me included, and she posts regularly but none of her posts are showing up on our Google readers or in our blogroll updates.
I have searched and searched for an answer for her. Just today I added a feedburner link to her blog and it is supposed to be updating but I am not seeing any action.
I removed her followers gadget and added it back in. I have unsubscribed and resubscribed a couple times to see if my reader might suddenly find her. No luck.
Her settings are all correct allowing us to view these things. Stumped!
Lots of people seem to have had this problem through the years but no one seems to have a concrete answer to the issue.

IF ONLY WE HAD A FAMILY DOG AT THE TIME

Joycee over at Granny Mountain did a post on Mac and Cheese that sent me spiraling into the childhood food trauma memories that have shaped me into the maladjusted stable person I am today.

My mother was a good cook but she had so little money there were many times when she cut corners in the kitchen and unfortunately the results were often not very palatable. I have to say that because of this I never scrimp on food, buying the best ingredients I can find for my cooking.
I was a fussy eater when I was a child too so that didn't help. We were of the generation where you ate what was put on your plate and you would sit there until you were finished. I remember the hot tears running down my face as I gagged trying to eat something that turned my stomach. Macaroni was one of those things.

Well I was nothing if not resourceful. We had a big old table like this one. It was a pinkish red too and best of all the underside had wooden braces running across the table and they were about 5 inches wide.
Turns out this is the perfect place to slip that tough hunk of meat your are trying to chew or those disgusting macaroni noodles. No one will ever find them there.
That is unless you mother decides she will sell that table one day and she will turn it over to show the prospective buyer how sturdy it is.
The clatter of dried up macaroni and other unidentifiable pieces of food made quite a sound when they hit the floor. My mother was so embarrassed.
You know I don't know if the table was sold but I never really got in trouble over it...that I remember...Maybe I am just blocking it out.
So I for one will not be making any of the Mac and Cheese recipes from Joycee's post but if you are a bit more well adjusted head on over there and get your Mac on.
Me? Don't worry, I will be cowering in the closet until I get the macaroni thoughts out of my head.

NOW THIS EXPLAINS A LOT

Studies done at the University of Wisconsin-Madison show that when you are sleep deprived there are parts of your brain that are actually asleep while you are awake.

Well duh!!! I could have told them that. How many times I have gone through my day on auto pilot when I have not slept well the night before.

When I used to have a few nights in a row when I didn't sleep I would notice time would pass and I really didn't remember what I had done during the day.

Did I really eat that bag of cookies? Nope, don't remember that.

Did I say I would put your clothes in the dryer two days ago? Nope don't remember that either. (I am sure that smell will come out when you wash it again)

The researchers kept the little rats in their study awake for 4 hours past their little bedtimes and then recorded the activity of their brain cells (neurons). I didn't know rats had bed times did you?

The rats appeared to be completely awake but their little neurons were not all firing. I know people who are like that all the time. Now maybe they have a good excuse.

The rats were taught a  new task to measure their responses. They were reaching out for a sugar pellet. The more sleep deprived they were the harder it was for them to grab the sugar pellet. Their motor skills were affected.

Think back to my lack of memory about the bag of cookies. I told you I didn't eat them all. I probably wouldn't have been able to actually grab them being in my sleep deprived state.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO DOESN'T CARE?

Wedding DressImage via Wikipedia
Am I the only one out there that couldn't care less about the royal wedding? I mean really. Two people I don't know are getting married in another country that I have never been to and I am supposed to get up in the middle of the night and watch this?
Really? I don't think so.
Why do so many people lose their minds over this. It isn't any more important than any other wedding going on in the world that day.
I know he may be king one day but honestly it is just a figurehead. Leave it to us to make a media circus out of the whole thing.
Now if you don't hear from me again you know that those famous words have been uttered.

Do you read blogs in Google Reader? If so you are missing my new header. Stop by the old fashioned way to say hi.

BLOGGERS HAVEN

I think I have come up with a great idea. It came to me while reading a comment from Delores @ Vignette Design on the "Great Gatsby" post I did.
I think we should have a group home for bloggers.
Yup. We should get funding for a mansion, preferably somewhere warm, like California, where bloggers can go to chillax.

WESTHOVE CASTLEImage by Akbar Simonse via Flickr
We would have it decorated in the most amazing, creative ways and it would change daily as new bloggers brought in new stuff. One day it would be rough wood and wire gates and the next it would be shiny mirrored bureaus and linen draperies tied with burlap ties. Tartans and tea lights.
Christmas Morning Light Hitting the MantleImage by theunquietlibrarian via Flickr
Oh and can you just see the tablescapes. Every meal would be enjoyed at a table that takes your breath away. The blue light photos would be breathtaking. Candles glowing and flickering in the crystal.

You can't have tablescapes without coming up with menus to go with. Oh how we will eat. Morning, noon and night we will delight in the mouthwatering foods we have licked our computer screens over for years.

What will we need at this house? A craft room filled with everything a crafter could want, especially lots of that black spray paint. I don't think we could even get enough of it to keep all the bloggers happy. We will have a room filled with fabrics and trims.

Can you imagine the storage room for the china, glasses and tablewares? It would fill a whole wing. It would need a rolling library ladder to zoom back and forth across the shelves filled with every pattern and shape of table we can imagine.

The kitchens, of course more than one, would hum with the laughter and chatter that comes with cooking in a group and the aromas will fill our heads and minds not to mention our bellies. The only thing that will make them more delish is when we put them on the perfectly set tables. why yes, I would love another glass of wine. Thank you.

There would be an art gallery to showcase the beautiful photographs and other creations that we all love so much. All the finished products of our talented artists and craftspeople.

We will wander about the manicured grounds enjoying the splendid gardens lovingly tended and cared for. The garden bloggers will let us "pretend" gardeners help out and photograph the blooms and blossoms that will be there year round.

Don't worry. I know what is missing still. We will need computers almost everywhere. The wireless will be humming 24/7 I am sure as we all update and create for our blogs.

Oh I know there is so much more we would want, I hesitate to say need, in our Bloggers Haven. Let me know what is missing. Doesn't matter what it is. This is our fantasy. We will also need a name. What would we call our special place? Our bloggers paradise?

GREAT GATSBY GOING, GOING, GONE

The area know as the Gold Coast in Long Island boasts many estates one of which is believed to be the inspiration for the F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. This 25 room mansion is being torn down to make room for some luxury homes.
This 25 room mansion requires about $4,500.00 per day for maintenance and insurance.
I hope they will recycle what must be a house full of fabulous trims and fixtures. It was said at one time to feature marble, parquet and wide wood planked floors. Hand painted wallpaper.
I wonder what the blog world could come up with recycling all the parts of this house. That would be quite a meme. Look, I think I can see Susan from BNOTP and Bill from Affordable Accoutrements racing in there from the helicopter pad. Dibs on a chandelier.
Okay I had to start a list to avoid fist fights later:
Chandeliers - me
Stained glass - Happier Than a Pig in Mud
Crown moldings - Lynn @ Its A July Thing
Kasia @ Chatelet is in charge of the cookout
Kathleen @ Cuisine Kathleen lives close to there and is going to bring a truck for us to load up.
Delores @ Vignette Design says she is going to fight for the chandeliers. Put em up girl!!

MAPLE ROASTED VEGETABLES

This recipe is perfect for Easter dinner so I thought I would re-post it now to give you time to get the ingredients.

This recipe, if you can call something so simple a recipe, is a variation of the one from The Noble Pig site. She had posted a carrot recipe at Easter time. I added the other vegetables that we liked to change it up a little.

Basically I seared the veggies in olive oil, added salt and pepper and then doused it with a bit of Maple Syrup. Into a very hot oven for 15-20 minutes. Delish. Sorry I didn't get a photo of them after they were cooked. The guests were about to attack and I forgot to take the final picture.

We had a houseful of guests and it was a big hit. It is surprising how many people have never had the little patty pan squashes. Of course there was asparagus. We eat it about once a week at least. This is what is so great about cooking. You start with one thing and adapt it to what you have on hand whether it is more of something or less.
I will be serving these with a ham and scalloped potatoes. Now I wonder what to make for dessert.

A LITTLE CHANGE

Here is a fun new meme to join in. Click on the badge to join in.
We can put up a link for any project we have done in the past for this weeks meme but going forward it will need to be a new project. I did this one a year ago.
I had put these words up in my dining room a while ago and knew that I was going to paint around them at some point. I finally got going and added a branch of roses. Here you see just the branch painted above.
They are not exactly roses but just a soft little hint of rose buds that are strangely enough coming down from our ceiling.
Please ignore the ugly light fixture in my kitchen. Maybe one day there will be a metamorphosis there too.

WHY I OUGHTA!!!

( Note: I have only had one bad comment and I dealt with him. Thanks to all of you including my sister who called long distance to see if I was okay. This is just a general post about the subject.)
Did you ever get a comment, usually from that nasty anonymous person, that made you want to pinch someone?
(I am trying not to use profanity here so substitute the correct word for these important ones. You know what they are.)
You know the ones. Out of the blue you get a stupid face comment from someone who insults your blog or reams you out over your opinion or decision.
This person tries to belittle you and your accomplishments or they full out attack you.
Perhaps they accuse you of something that is simply not true.I have known of bloggers who closed up their blogs over some attacks.
We can all use a little backup sometimes and now we have it. Vivienne @ The V Spot and Mandi @ Vintage Revivals have created a soft place to land when we have been slagged on our very own blogs. Click on the icon to go see their new blog.

"If you have a comment or email that ticked you off WE WANT IT!!  Overly critical?  Unnecessarily snarky?  Flat out nasty? Send it in!"
Go by and have a look. They are just beginning. You can put in your link to your post with the nasty comment. You are not alone.
Hmmm. I wonder what happens if I really do write something stupid or if I really deserve the comment. Nah...that would never happen.

I WILL NOT JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON

Canucks Home Logo; 2007-.Image via Wikipedia
Let me just say right off the top that I am not a hockey fan. I prefer basketball. That being said, our local NHL team the Vancouver Canucks are having the most awesome year and are first in the league.
Things are heating up around here. Everywhere you look the Canuck flags are flying from peoples cars. Hanging in peoples windows.
I am happy for them. I hope they win because they are "our" team. Will I start hosting Grey (snort, I didn't even get the name right) Stanley Cup parties or screaming and cheering in the pub? Nope.
As more and more people jump on the bandwagon I shrug my shoulders. I wasn't interested before when they were doing poorly and I am not going to suddenly become a fan now that they are doing great.
But that bandwagon will be getting bigger and bigger as the days go on. Those who once felt like I did will now be spouting statistics and dropping names like they are best friends with the players.
They will fill the streets and in some case riot whether we win or lose.
Me?
I'll be busy that day.
(go Canucks, go)

VINTAGE ADS TO MAKE YOUR JAW DROP

Here are some blasts from the past.
Okay some things never change. The guy who brings the puppets to the party is always the most popular guest.
This poor woman can't even stand up because her waist is so thin. She must have had a lot of toothaches.
Suddenly everyone is complaining about toothaches.
Imagine how clean the house would be if she had a "toothache".
Now this is a gift that will come in handy. Especially when you read the following ads.
I am starting to cry a little bit myself.
Maybe if you are blowing weed in her face.
Okay this one is still relevant except we can plunk them in front of the computer screen. It's Howdy Doody time!!!
We need the easy open beer cans because we have had some really bad "toothaches" lately and we are needing to slow down that buzz a little.
Hops and malt are the perfect nutrients for your baby and the bonus is how well they will sleep.
Am I the only one who reads this as "your guy is a giant pain and you need to medicate yourself to put up with him"?
Now this is where that gun you bought yourself for Christmas will come in handy. No worries though. You can claim you were high on toothache medication and Midol and are not responsible for your actions.
