These pictures are all from my front yard. It has been raining here for weeks and finally this weekend we had some sunshine. The snails and slugs have been eating all my annuals right down to the stems. I killed 17 snails on my front steps the other morning. That was in an area of about 3 feet by four feet. Can you imagine how much beer I would have to put out there to drown them?
The Spanish lavender looks awesome with the bumble bee!! That many snails...I get goosebumps thinking of it!! But I hear you on the rain!

Too much beer to waste on the slugs, drop them in soapy water. Wonderful mosaic. Have a "dry" week?
ReplyDeleteLori, Your mosaic is just beautiful! Your flowers appear to be a little farther along than mine. I have some of the perennial sweet peas too. They are so pretty but mine have no fragrance. I overplant with the annual sweet peas on the same garden gate.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well with you.
Hugs and blessings, Beth
Hi, Wowww...love your mosaic! Very beautiful! I hope that you have a lovely new week!

Want to trade for a groundhog Lori?
ReplyDeleteLori...what lovely flowers! When we lived on the West coast (both San Diego and Seattle areas) we battled snails and slugs (I'd rather see a snail than a slug). Not sure when we don't have them in Nebraska but am thankful we don't :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!

fabulous mosaic. Your flowers look great to me; almost enough to make me want to garden again. But it's easier to just admire yours. (old and lazy). Um -- you could just drink the beer and then maybe the slugs and snails wouldn't bother you so much (lol).... we sure had to battle slugs when we DID garden -- that was when we lived back in Oregon.
ReplyDeleteLori, for all that rain your garden is looking very lovely.
ReplyDeleteDon't waste the beer on them, use a bit of yeast, sugar, and water. They love it, and it blows them up. LOL. Talk about beer bloat.

Oh Lori....I was going to suggest beer......but I guess you already know that. (O:

Ick, I don't like yukky slugs or snails.... Since I have a brown thumb and don't grow flowers, I don't have those suckers. I hope you can find another way to get rid of them. It seems such a waste of good beer to drown them in it! Your flower mosaic is gorgeous, btw. I wish I was a gardener. I tried to grow tomatoes, once. The only thing I cultivated was an overabundance of tomato worms. Eeeewwwww....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love peonies and have several pink ones in the front yard. They were gorgeous until a hail storm last month. Is your Sweet Pea a climbing vine? My mother had one when I was growing up and I've wanted one for years. Would you send me a clipping when the time is right, if that's what you have? Oh, and you haven't lived until you've stepped barefoot onto a slug and it squishes up between your toes! Yep, did that, too.
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful blooms, Lori! My eye went straight to the sweet peas. We always had those growing on the garden fence when I was a child. Thank you for bringing back pleasant memories!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever stepped on a slug on the porch at night ... in stocking feet? OY!
