The saga of my insomnia is a sad tale. Many of you know that I can't sleep. I fall asleep just fine but wake throughout the night and cannot get back to sleep for hours. This goes on day after day, week after week.
It doesn't matter how tired I am. I just can't drop back into deep sleep mode. I have tried everything except medication, which to me, is not an option.
Something has changed. I have slept every night for a week. I wake to go to the bathroom but go right back to sleep. I am sleeping 8 hours straight easily. Longer if I wanted to.
I have only changed one thing in my life that may be contributing to my new found state of zzzzzzzzzz.
I tried this not because it made any references to sleeping but just to boosting ones metabolism. I thought it sounded good and it does no harm. If nothing else it will help me get some much needed water into my system.
This "recipe" so to speak comes from Dr. Oz. I saw it on Pinterest and I know it has been featured on many other blogs.
I make up a jug full in the evening and keep it covered in the fridge. I have a glass while waiting for my morning coffee to be ready. I have a second glass before I leave for work. I try to drink the rest of it after work but don't always finish it in one day. I will have to get a nice travel cup to bring some to work as well.
I don't know if this is what is helping me sleep or not. All I know is that is the only change in my life and since I started it I am sleeping a deep, wonderful, dream filled sleep. Coincidence? Works for me.
6 Green Tea bags
Handful of fresh mint leaves
8 cups water.
You can add some honey if you have to but I like mine as is
Brew the tea bags in the hot water. Add honey if using so it will mix in with the hot water. Let cool. I leave the tea bags in the jug but you can remove them at this point if you want. Add the sliced orange and the fresh mint leaves.
Try to drink it all in one day.
Could this be any more simple? Is this my miracle for sleep. So far I am saying yes it is. Even if it isn't what is helping me sleep this is a healthy drink so you can't go wrong.
Hey have you joined in with a picture of your favorite place in your home or garden yet? Click here to add a link to your post on your favorite place. Tell us why it is your favorite. Please make sure you link it back to my blog so others can join it too.
A friend of mine who sells real estate (shout out....hey Michael) asked his friends to send him pictures of their favorite place in their home. I thought that was a brilliant idea and wanted to share it with you.
Do you have a favorite spot in your home or garden? Someplace where you read or enjoy your coffee or tea? A hallway that has amazing shadows when the sun hits it? Your dryer because you warm up your clothes on a cold winter morning? Hey this is subjective, it could be the dryer.
It can be as big as the whole room or as small as a picture on a table.
My favorite place is my dining room. It is where we sit with family and friends and laugh and love. I painted the area below the ceiling between the kitchen and dining room. It is my motto.
Link up and show us all your favorite place in your home environment and tell us why.
I recently discovered something very disturbing. Did you know that there are blogs out there that are solely devoted to hating successful bloggers? I am serious. That is all they post about. They have chosen various bloggers that have a large following and commercial success and they and their readers attack, insult, belittle and criticize everything these bloggers do on a daily basis. What have these people done to deserve this vitriol? Well let's see.
They have created blogs that struck a cord with their readers
They have a very large readership
They post consistently
They make money from their blogs
They have other commercial opportunities due to the success of their blogs
They have interacted with their blog followers using social media sites
What sorts of brilliant observations do these hacks come up with?
Someone is fat
People who follow a popular blog are sheeple
If you are successful and the media pick up on it you are egotistical and delusional
You neglect your family
I don't understand this phenomena and I am disgusted by it. If you don't like a blog don't read it. If you don't like the person who writes the blog move on. If you don't have anything to write about that is not filled with hate then perhaps you should find another outlet for your venom like spitting into the wind or something. I wish the successful bloggers even more good things for 2013 because success is definitely the best revenge.
I must confess to having a little too much champagne last night. I don't think I will use any of these remedies but have a look to see what people do around the world to help with their overindulgences on New Years Eve.
