I GOT SUNSHINE ON A CLOUDY DAY

I wish. Raining here again but I need to post something sunny to keep my spirits up so I am going with these pictures from nicer days.

OLD SCHOOL MARKET

I was out of the house early this morning to go to the Old School Market in a little town called Clayburn about a 45 minute drive from my house. This town was established in 1905.
IMG_0153
I found out about this market from the Birch & Bird ladies Rachel and Lily. It is held in an old school and it was packed full of great stuff and great people. Everyone was so gracious about letting me photograph their booths.
My first stop inside was at Jen’s Dream Decor to see her lovely fabric memory and magnet boards and clocks. Jen has an Etsy shop here.
IMG_0155-1IMG_0156-1IMG_0157
Jen said she would like to have a blog one day and I tried to encourage her to start one…maybe when Blogger is playing nice again.
Next stop was at Kevi’s booth Twig Home. She has such cool stuff.
IMG_0158IMG_0159-1
I just have to do the rake thing. Brilliant. Her booth was so crowded I could only get these two shots and even that took some time. Love the paper wreath.
Moving down the row I came to Birch and Bird and their interesting pieces.

Ha, ha, I like this one. Too funny and true.

Who is next on our tour? Stephanie Mason from What Wood You Say that’s who. Now she doesn’t have a web site either but she had some great painted pieces with a black & white theme.

Now here is a great idea. Trove is a company owned by Jessica MacDonald that rents vintage pieces for thing like photo shoots and events. Rentals??? I know. Have a look and make sure to check out her site for some very interesting wedding ideas.

I really wanted to buy those clocks but that is when I found out that they only rent the items for events and photo shoots.

IMG_0178-2
Tracey @ Raggy Girl Vintage had a tableful of goodies. I could see more than one person wanting the cushions. I have more she says, I have more.

Last but not least there was Colleen from Vintage Home. Hi Colleen..waving my hands now…When I gave my card to Colleen and asked permission to take photos of her booth she said that she had actually been to my blog before. I bought a couple things from her. First of all I bought some damask napkins. You can barely see them on the table below.

IMG_0188
Along with the napkins I also bought the green ladder below. My son leaned it up against the river rock fireplace when he carried it upstairs for me and it looks awesome there with some of the river rocks being almost the exact same shade of green and a perfect height. IMG_0188-1
IMG_0186-1IMG_0189
These were not the only booths at the show. There were many more with jewellery and other things but I was there for the vintage pieces.
It was so nice to meet the ladies and now to go and see their blogs. Now if only the followers gadgets were working I could sign up.

WEEKEND TO END WOMEN’S CANCERS

michelle

For the second year in a row my Great-niece (she is on the far left) is participating in the Walk to End Women’s Cancers.

I know last year she ended up pretty blistered and had to go to work in Crocs… which is not dress code. Poor sore feet.

I am so pr0ud of her for all she has accomplished in life and am so pumped to help her reach her donation goal for the walk.

If you are able here is the link to her walk info. Her name is Michelle and she is a Supastaaarrrr. Want to share this? Feel free.

A VERY IMPORTANT DEADLINE

There is a wonderful effort out there to get all the living WWII veterans to their memorial site in Washington D.C.

Time is of the essence here due to the advanced age of most of them. About 1000 WWII veterans die every day.

Have a look at this video clip and share it if you can. They are aiming for 5 million views before May 30th. and they are 72% there.

There will a documentary out in November as well so they really want to get their trailer seen to generate even more interest in the movie. http://media.causes.com/1060527?p_id=175378540

Please share this with your friends.

IT FIGURES

Just when I thought there might be an end in sight to the allergy issues and the tree pollen they announced on the news last night that most of the people who are sick with allergies right now are not being affected by tree pollen.

Oh no. The problem now is mold. Yup. So wet this year that there are mold spores coming up from the ground and they are a terrible allergen.

With the weather forecasts we have been getting there is no hope of this drying out any time soon. Wimper.

WHEN THE GIGGLES HIT

Some time ago I posted about a pot bust here in B.C.  where they were using bears to guard the property.
You can read about it here.
Well here is a video of a Russian newscaster trying desperately to stop cracking up while she reports on it.
You would think she had been partaking in a little bit herself. Too funny.

NO, ME EITHER

I am reposting this group for those who may have missed them over time. I add to the list often as I am a bit of a train wreck. You can normally find them at the top of the page under "I Say Hmmmm".

I’M ALIVE

sunshine

Just a quick morning post to let you all know that thanks to the wonder of antibiotics and stubborness I am coming  back to the land of the living.

It only took a second trip to the clinic, which always involves a 2 hour wait. I knew I was not just sick with a cold or plain allergies.

I ended up with a sinus infection in my professional medical opinion. This second doctor asked me what color my nasal discharge is and what I am coughing up looks like. (sorry if I just ruined your breakfast)

Well if anything was coming out I could tell you but my nose is not plugged or runny. My sinuses were blocked completely and the pain in my face and head were getting worse. Nothing was coming out.

A few minutes later I was at the drug store with a prescription for antibiotics. It has been so long since I have taken them things have changed. They now tell you to take Acidopholus capsules with it so you don’t get the usual yeast infection along with it.

So in a matter of 2 days I have gone from lying on the couch in a state of coughing mania to getting ready for work with some energy and almost no coughing.

I know I am better because I am starting to rearrange things when I walk by them on a table. Yup. A sure sign of a blogger being better.

HILARIOUS RAPTURE POST

I found my way to this post on the Rules for the Rapture via Ali @ 50 Something’s blog who posted a link to another blog Frog on the Pumpkin. I haven’t had a look around her whole blog but these rules are so hilarious. I know we all survived the non-event but you never know when it will be coming around again.

Be sure to tell her I say hi.
