***Please use your own judgement here. Many blogs are offering different opinions. Some say we are losing blog rolls other say not. All I am saying is just in case...upload your list elsewhere***
Most people don’t like change. They especially don’t like change when it is on their computers.
We get used to doing things a certain way, using certain programs which at times took us a while to figure out and become comfortable with.

Most of us have followed a lot of favorite blogs over the years adding them to our list using the Follower’s gadget. In turn we would go to our blog dashboard list and either click on them there to read the latest post or open them up in Google Reader to see them.
I didn’t use Google Reader myself. I preferred going directly to the blogs to read the post so as not to miss out on any interesting things on the sidebars.
Not only is Google Reader gone but shortly your list of blogs on your dashboard may also disappear.
You can read about this on the Official Google Reader Blog. The time to manage this is now! As it is I have to refresh my dashboard page several times to get my list up.
I am not worried though because I have already copied my list of favorite blogs to another application.
I chose Bloglovin and it was super easy and fast. I imported my list in just a minute or two. See the button on my sidebar and give it a click to add me to your list. There are many, many others to choose from though and Blogger has given us a link to find them.
So let’s move on and enjoy our blogs using new tools. It is great to learn new things and let’s face it…all this stuff is free so we should just appreciate what we have had and carry on.
What they are taking away our blog rolls? Really? It's the first I have heard of that...sigh.
ReplyDeleteI love my blog roll....
I've been with bloglovin for a few months now, and yes you are in mine...loving it. So easy to use...except for commenting...that's a stickler not every blog is allowing me to leave a comment on bloglovin.

WHAT??!! We ARE going to lose our list on our Dashboards??!! Are you sure? Drat!! I thought I was safe (never used Google Reader).
ReplyDeleteWell, you're the first I've heard to say that the Reading list will disappear from our dashboards. All other bloggers have said they're just not sure. But when I followed your link to the Official Reader Blog, I don't find a mention of the Blog Roll. Can you give more specific direction? I never used Reader, and don't really like the Bloglovin' format (maybe just takes some getting used to), but you're right, maybe just have to go with the flow. Google does explain the reasons - lack of usage - so if people don't use their services, it only makes sense not to keep maintaining them. I'm scared that what's next is closing Blogger altogether, then what do we do? I haven't found Wordpress all that great from what I've seen of it. Oh, well!
ReplyDeleteWhat I am liking about Bloglovin is I can catch up with the blogs I’m following at my leisure (yes, I do have leisure time beyond Pinterest). As you can see by the date of your post and my comment I really had time today to READ and comment today. Have a great weekend. Keep up the good information . . .
ReplyDeleteI'm not to sure what to think of all this disappearing stuff on Google and Blogger. It wouldn't surprise me to see Google Friends disappear in the not so near future....that is why I started a FB page for my blog....ya never know! Diane
