What is it about our hair that is so important? It is even referred to as our crowning glory. That is a pretty big position to live up to. No wonder we are often disappointed. We wash it, color it, cut it, treat it, condition it and use many, many products on it. Or if you are like me you mostly do nothing with it but keep it clean and comb it.
I have really thick hair. I can wash it in the morning and hours later it is still damp underneath.
(a long time ago but shows the curls)
It is naturally curly but because of the weight of it often straightens out. That is until I go into the rain. For some reason when the rain wets my hair it curls up beautifully. It is NOT the humidity because here in the Vancouver area we have rain a lot and my hair doesn’t curl more on rainy days than sunny ones.
It is only when the actual precipitation gets on my hair that it does its thing. Soft curls shortening up my hair length by a considerable amount.
Is it the lack of chlorine? Nope. There isn’t any chlorine at our cabin and the water there doesn’t curl my hair more. Is it the temperature? The ions? The pollution….I hope not.
Well whatever it is I love it. Now time to go stand in the rain for a while to make sure I look my best today.
I am jealous of your hair...extremely.
ReplyDeleteI have thin hair...and each strand is so tiny that it is about as small as a strand of a spider's web.
I think they call that "fine" hair.
I'm not so sure that's it's fine with me. I would prefer thick and curly hair like yours. Just sayin'...
Hugs,
Jackie
I love this post. When it is going to be moist outside, I just scrunch my hair and let it go, no point in trying to smooth it. :)

I adore your post. I do not have that problem of curls, but when you don't have it . . you wish you did. I've always loved the look of massive curls. I just got my hair cut this week, and I'm having a time tiring to get it to look as nice as the lady in the beauty parlor did :)
ReplyDeleteHere's wishing you a great hair day.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)
I always wondered why your hair looks so thick and curly in your older pictures but not your profile picture. In any event it looks great. My hair is naturally curly and thick and completely expands in rain and humidity. I struggle with straightening it, for some reason we want what we don't have! Today I actually curled it with a wand (funny you should post this today), I am sharing a picture of my miraculous new do in my next post) and I got more compliments than when I fight to get it straight. But sadly, just as much work. I should just chop it off.

Im with you on this! WHAT is it about rainwater that does this? :) Im glad though, because pretty curls are always great! :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
You lucky to have thick, curly hair. My hair is straight as a pin....and thin. When the rain hits it I look like a scary witch!! For years I have been wanting to colour it blonde, a little change is good right! Diane
