STEP AWAY FROM THE GARLIC BREAD

It is official. I cannot be trusted with garlic bread. Not even for a minute. I cannot manage to keep an eye on the buttery, garlicy loaves under the broiler. We like them toasted so they are always done open faced under the broiler.

I set the timer even. I stay in the kitchen. I talk too much with my guests and voila…. same results every time.

  2. ...yeah...me too! Funny, though, I think it get it from my mom. When DD was just a tiny little girl my mom used to make "cheese toast" under the broiler for her for breakfast. When she asked her one morning for her breakfast choice, DD said, "Cheese toast. But I don't want it burned." The end of the story: DD is now burning bread under the broiler for her children. And the beat goes on....

  3. Oh we all go through times like that, lol...maybe it was the earthquake. Ahem...yes that's it.

I now leave the oven light on during the last little bit of baking, what a difference it's made in my burning, I mean baking.

  5. Oh, Lori...I do the very same thing! I don't even use my broiler anymore. The bread isn't so toasty but it does brown well just in a 450 degree oven.

  11. Believe it or not, some people (such as my dad) would probably love it this way. I don't think it looks bad.
