Have you ever accidentally picked up the wrong ingredient in your kitchen? Salt when you wanted sugar? Cayenne pepper when you wanted mellow paprika? Booze when you wanted olive oil? What? Yep……. talk about a close call for my bowl of Greek salad.
You tell me? Close enough to be understandable or should I get my head examined?
Have I ever! Years ago when I thought cobalt blue glass canisters were a good idea I was making some sort of portobello mushroom dish, the sauce of which required thickening with flour. I opened up what I thought was flour, wondered why the sauce would not thicken, but knew immediately when I tasted it because I had really used confectioners' sugar. Suffice it to say, I feel your pain. I'm also smiling.
ReplyDeleteHa, ha! One day I grabbed a diet pepsi to take to work for after lunch... Turned out to be a beer:@)
ReplyDeleteI often double my recipes and more than once I forget to double one (or more!!) ingredients - biscuits turn out like pucks! Good think the dog loves to chew on them to keep his teeth healthy!
ReplyDeleteI understand that. I always double up when I make stuff. One time I also forgot to put the bran in my bran muffins.
DeleteJust one other reason for me to stay out of the kitchen !!!!
