AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO DOESN'T CARE?

Wedding DressImage via Wikipedia
Am I the only one out there that couldn't care less about the royal wedding? I mean really. Two people I don't know are getting married in another country that I have never been to and I am supposed to get up in the middle of the night and watch this?
Really? I don't think so.
Why do so many people lose their minds over this. It isn't any more important than any other wedding going on in the world that day.
I know he may be king one day but honestly it is just a figurehead. Leave it to us to make a media circus out of the whole thing.
Now if you don't hear from me again you know that those famous words have been uttered.

  1. Nope, you are not the only one. I couldn't care less either. The only reason I watched Diana's was because I didn't have cable and had no choice. Thank goodness that won't be the case this time!

  2. I'm not big on fancy weddings period. And I am certainly not impressed by the elite ..in any country. I am impressed by people who serve, not so much those who are served.

  3. HA! Your a hoot Lori. The media are full of it over here (in more ways than one, I might add).

But frankly, I don't think the average Brit is all that interested. They've got bigger issues on their minds like saaayy, the extortionate cost of living.

The wedding hubbub is a nice change from the usual doom and gloom-fest in the press, but when all's said and done, your right; it won't make a jot of difference to anyone but the bride and groom.

    Good luck to them.

  4. I am with you! Look how the last 2 Royal weddings turned out, not very well!

I can understand if the British are interested, but as a previous commenter said, with the cost of living sky rocketing, I'd hate to think my $$$ will pay for this.

    Couldn't care less!

  5. The news media is trying to distract us from the problems here...with fluff from there...

  6. I was swept into the pageantry when Di married Prince Charles - - - - and look how THAT ended.

Nope, I can't get into this one either.

  7. Nope! You aren't the only one! I'm happy for them in the same way I'd be happy when I hear that ANYONE fell in love and is headed to the alter. (Well, not anyone, but most.) Anyhow, I am irritated when I want to hear about what's happening in Libya, but instead they are running a segment on how to host a wedding tea party.
    What the...!?

  8. I'm very happy that two people have met, fallen in love and will now get married. That same would be true for any two people, anywhere.

No, I will not be watching and the fact that so many are CRAZY over this actually makes me ill. If I have to hear that poor girl called a "commoner" one more time, I think I'll throw up!

As you may remember, my family came to what is now called America in 1607, and later fought in the American Revolution to free themselves of British rule. My ancestors would turn over in their graves if they thought I was going to get all gushy over an event like this.

Thanks for posting this, so that I could vent! lol

  9. Ahhhhh my dear "common women." Dianas wedding cost what? 6.5 million? (back then) its like 17 now... its paid. Now, if we get all rebellious and not watch, who's going to pay for their wedding?! Not to mention that they dont want to let anyone know how much this will cost. What pisses me of the most is that people who are born with status and money pick up a poor baby and suddenly theire the prince of the people, when regular people do this all the time and nothing is ever said.

Lets hope William didnt take after grandpa Henry VI and we can write anything we want ;)

Hugs and thanks for the sweet post!

  10. I'm with you, Lori. A great big "yawn" from me, too. I am concerned about a terorist attack there, such a big target for the haters. Today, Phoebe Snow died. RIP.

  11. hee! hee! A little bit here and there is okay, but I'm not going to get up in the middle of the night to watch it! :)

  12. I said the same thing...but I may take a peek if I'm up and the coffee is ready...maybe. Actually, the idea of "royalty" just goes soooooo against my American grain. I know, I know, we have our own issue with the "haves" and the "have nots" but the "princess and prince" thing is a bit much for me. And I may be the next one whose head rolls!! I do hope they have a happy life without so much drama as that family has lived in and with for so long now.

The only thing I wish is that I looked like Kate. And that's all. :)

  15. I'm not that bothered either, and I'm in the UK. I don't have a TV so wouldn't be watching - I was just concerned that the places I research in might be closed due to a new "public holiday" - but they're not - woo hoo! Good luck to the two of them, but I'm not that interested in watching the ceremony :-) Jo

  16. As a Brit that is having to fork out towards the cost of this 'Event', I'm not in the slightest bit interested in watching it. In fact, I shall be at work along with the other 750 people who work at my place, so I don't think it is as supported as Charles and Di. In fact I heard that only 300 street parties have asked for funding in the whole of Britain! Street Parties! I ask you! If I had the spare cash to splash out on food for other people, it would at least be for friends and family, and not the strangers that live in close proximity to us. Bah Humbug!

  17. I couldn't believe the American press coverage of this event! Barbara Walters and Diane Sawyer were so enthralled.... Who gives a rat's butt?
