No sooner did I see the post on French Elements with the wonderful dancing bird then a friend emailed me with a the following clip. I am starting to think the birds are going to outsmart us all.
That was amazing! Too funny to see him roll over and play dead. I used to have a parakeet that would chase the dog around the coffee table, such a cool bird!
I think that is a tiny human in a bird suit. No, actually, that is brilliant.
The trainer used operant conditioning on this smart little feathered friend -- you can hear the noise of the clicker after each successfully executed "trick."
I used clicker training on my dogs -- it's wonderfully effective when done right. And -- I am not making this up -- I used it on my 9th grade Sunday School class each year and had the best attendance and most motivated kids at the church. :-) They never knew that I "trained" them just as I did my dogs.
Sheldon used it on Penny in a Big Bang Theory show on CBS this season.
