How does the weekend go by so fast? What did I get done? This whole working full time thing is 3 months old now and I am just blown away as to how little time I have to get things done now.
I had offered to help someone move Saturday morning and she was very thankful that I offered. I turned down lunch with my niece and her husband in order to be home to help this woman. She was supposed to phone me Saturday morning. She said she really could use some help.
You know what? She didn't even phone. I hung around the house waiting but nothing. Thanks a bunch.
Here is something new to me. Having to wait almost a week to return something to a store. This store closes before I get off work. They don't open early enough either so I will have to wait until Thursday or Friday night at to return something that was bought on the weekend. How do all of you do it? This is just a pain.
Every time we get a new person delivering the local paper they put it someplace else. The latest one just tosses it on the walkway to the house. Is it asking too much to get the paper at the doorstep? Really? I would normally tell you myself but I am at work full time and no longer see you in the afternoon.
Do you sense a theme here? It is Monday and I am heading back to work for the week. I miss the freedom I had. I actually worked harder at home than I do at work but I really miss the flexibility that I had for 20+ years. Wah.
Oh heck, what can I say. Monday mornings suck, even if they fall on a tuesday.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, working does seem to take up a inordinate amount of time, someone should make a new invention to fix that.
Oh right, they have, I think that it is called retirement, hey and only 20 more years for you before you get there. Congrats!!!

Good Morning Sunshine!!! Work interferes with everything, the end.
ReplyDeleteI haven't worked in ten years. Sometimes I think I might want to go back, but then I get over it. I've got it good and I know it! Hope your week gets better.
ReplyDeletei've been working more lately as well. i feel ur pain, lori. i've worked everday since thursday this week and skipped out on yet another morning shift so i can get back on afternoons, hopefully the gamble pays off. cuz seriously i was starting to feel like a zombie, like regular people feel when they work the graveyard shift with me lol
ReplyDeleteAh yes, flexibility is what I like. I can feel your frustration, however!!!
ReplyDeleteVent all you like, Lori! I know it can be hard to try and accomplish everything you'd like to, but without the time you were once used to. AAAGGGHHHH.....
ReplyDeleteI seem to be having the opposite problem. Since being home these past few months, I have realized that I got more done when I was working full-time! I had a deadline and more pressure. I have become a little lazy and have developed the attitude that "it can wait until tomorrow..." WRONG! I need to get back on the horse and ride! LOL
hugs, Ethel
I know Lori, it is tough! I worked for 33 yrs, and I can't believe the freedom I have now. I always felt stressed..couldn't even sit and read the paper as I knew there were chores I had to do...
ReplyDeleteSome days are like that Lori. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Valerie
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain, Lori. Weekends do fly by way too fast. So sorry about your wasted Saturday. Our free time is so precious, isn't it?!
ReplyDeleteHope your work week is a good one!
Hugs,
Susan
Would have been nice of the neighbor to let you know if she wasn't going to need the help...a phone call to you wouldn't have taken her but a moment. I'm sorry that happened, Lori. I hope nothing was wrong at her home....an emergency, etc.
ReplyDeleteWeekends do go by too fast, Lori. As Miz Scawlett would say, "Tomorrow's anutha day.." and I hope that tomorrow brings sunshine and smiles....and your newspaper gets tossed onto your doorsteps.
(Love your blog!)
Smiles,
Jackie
We used to say we went back to work after our vacation - so we could get some rest. I have been retired for years - but there is always something waiting to keep me busy, and sometimes feeling 'overworked'.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to juggle everything. And THEN to have someone stand you up who YOU were trying to help. I'm mad FOR you!
ReplyDeleteI worked part time for 25 years...it was great...then all the reasons why I only worked part time were gone and I went to full time to try and increase our retirement funds...this working full time is for the birds...now part time reasons are coming back and I don't think I'll be able to work part time again so getting everything done is not happening...Good luck with that Lori E...
