LUNCHTIME

I have been back working full time for a month now. I am pleased with myself that I have brought my lunch every day except one and they have all been extremely healthy and low cal.
There are places to buy lunch close by but I have avoided that trap because even if they didn't take so long they are really not healthy.
The only thing I have bought pre-made was a healthy bean  soup from my coffee shop.
Most days my lunch consists of a small container of yogurt, a salad with balsamic vinegar and a piece of fruit. I am not doing it as a diet but just as a way of eating healthy. I come home and have a regular dinner.
The best thing about the whole back to work scenario is my BB Guy cleaned a bathroom this weekend and has done laundry. We had guests over for dinner and things got done between the two of us. I really enjoyed and appreciated that.
How about you? What do you have for lunch at work? Working at home? C'mon...tell the truth.

  1. It's 8:30am as I write this--both hands on the keyboard and a cookie in my mouth. If I eat lunch at all, it's usually a bowl of cereal. I work from home and either don't think about eating or am too lazy to put something together. Maybe I should invest in some microwave meals. Keep up the good work!

  2. good for you Lori...I usually eat a salad with chicken, or with black beans..and fruit of some sort...sometimes yogurt...even if hubby and I go out for lunch..I stick with a salad no dressing...I've learned to eat out and stay pretty healthy...

  3. I'm part time, two days a week, and as far as sandwiches go, I prefer my homemade to the majority of the shop-bought around here. Even when I worked full time, I brought my lunch. Not so much a health thing as simple economics.

I'm lucky with my new job in that there's a fridge and microwave for employees to use. So that gives you more brown bag options. I'm not a big lunch eater so for me, a sandwich or a cup of soup with yogurt, fruit or sometimes one of these snack pack of chips is enough.

  4. You are far to good! - I have a ham roll each day, which I have made for me by my lovely hubby.
I then eat it in the workd canteen, where eveyone else is digging into chips and fry ups! At least I don't fall prey to the fatty foods being sold eh!

  5. Wow! I'm impressed. When I worked I ate out nearly every day. The temptation was too great. Now that I am a slave to the house, I am far too lazy to leave to get takeout. So I eat at home. Which means I don't eat anything really yummy b/c that would mean I'd have to cook it. It's not a coincidence that I have lost weight.

  6. I am not very good at work for my lunches....I have been having a hard time thinking of lunches that I am interested in eating other than leftovers and those have been sparse lately as I am not cooking much...then of course there are the fast food places close by so off I go...I am going to try to have to be a bit more organized with my lunches if I expect to lose some weight before the summer!!

  7. You are doing great not falling into the "purchased" lunch trap. Aside from the calorie hit the $$$ add up way too much. We have several cafes here on campus and I would say I buy my lunch maybe once a month if that. I bring my leftovers from the night before. I actually eat a bigger lunch than dinner - but that's my choice. I have my strawberries and yogurt for snack, then whatever protein and carb with raw veggies. Then fruit for my late snack.

  8. Drives me crazy to see people spend so much on lunch...It all adds up. Unless people are working just for fun??
I brought my lunch most days, never went out. Only had 35 min. Some days I just had a salad at the school cafe..brown lettuce...I always kept my own dressing in the faculty room.

  9. Since I am at home almost every day, I usually eat leftovers or soup and a sandwich. My problem is I have no appetite until noon, so I skip breakfast, I still eat a normal lunch but by 3:00 it catches up with me and I want to snack. I really have to get under control if I want to drop some unwanted weight by summer! Great sharing post!

  10. I work full-time and bring my lunch EVERY day. I just can't see dropping the kind of money that most of my co-workers do on lunch. I usually bring a salad (I make it the night before when we're doing supper clean up) or leftover soup. Much healthier than take out too :)

Today's lunch...salad w/a boiled egg and leftover turkey meat..simple olive oil and vinegar dressing. Very yummy :)

    Blessings!

  11. Good for you! I work such strange hours, that half the time I end up skipping lunch (I know, I know) I do usually manage to scarf down some yogurt mid morning. Today I was STARVING after eating way too much at our family wedding/reunion weekend so I ordered a sandwich combo from Dominoes. 10.50! Next time, I'll starve... I really need to start bringing something to work, but half the time I'm at the front desk over lunch and it really doesn't inspire confidence in our clients if I welcome them with lettuce between my teeth lol. 12. Hmmm...I always scoot around the kids and eat the dropped crumbs. Call me Rover.

  13. My sweet sister, Marcy, packs my lunch for the week and leaves it in my car Monday morning. I have delectable home made meals packed just for me. I am spoiled rotten!

  14. Over the years at the garden center I could go home for lunch. That was a treat! At my retail job, I have to eat upstairs in the lunch room so I bring healthy food. And I usually don't like sandwiches so I bring a Lean Cuisine lunch. Gar calls them my "TV dinners."

No way can I afford to spend any money on lunch, but is seems that many others where I work do.

Good for you for eating healthy.

  15. I never eat breakfast, just have my coffee. For lunch I will sometimes make a sandwich but I prefer a hot meal for lunch so it's usually leftover or maybe a grilled cheese. Love grilled cheese sandwiches!

  16. Ah yez ... healthy food! Excellent ... kudos to YOU ;-)
Looking at all that fresh produce reminds me I need to get myself to a grocery store soon.
    Hugs and blessings,
