TABLESCAPE THURSDAY: OH HOW I STRUGGLE

Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch is hosting our theme today. Join in. Everyone welcome. Make sure to visit the others too.

Oh how I try to tablescape with the best of you without spending an arm and a leg, and in some cases a first born child. (can we negotiate?)

This is a variation on my Thanksgiving table though it is only half the size as we use two tables.

This is the condensed version of the centerpiece.

Oh yes, nice and blurry.

A little better.

Have you noticed anything yet?

Apparently you need utensils to eat dinner.

So let me tell you what I did. I took a set of photos. Most were okay. Then I realized I forgot the flatware. Of course I had already blown out all the candles. Put out the flatware, relight the candles. Snap, snap, snap. Blow out the candles again.
Then I took a look at the second set of photos on the computer and they were all so blurry. I was not going to light them all again. So here is the one photo above with flatware and candles. Just pretend you already drank the wine and it is you that is blurry and not my photos. Oy.

  2. Your tablescape is gorgeous! I stopped by after reading your sad, sad comment on Housewife Savant's blog...and I quote: ahem "what the hell is a Funyon?"
Oh dear Abraham Lincoln! She doesn't know what a Funyon is??? Okay, well, they're probably not everyone's bag, or cup o' tea. :)
They are chips that are shaped like onion rings and supposedly taste like them. I, however, do not think they taste like onions. But I lurve though.
Anyway! I just had to come and tell you what a Funyon is! If you don't think I'm super weird after this comment, you could send me your address and I will send you some Funyons! You have to at least try them once! : )

  3. Looks good to me! And you know I don't spend money if I am willing to spray paint hydrangeas for a centerpiece!
And I have had a Funyon..like them? not so much! Give me a beer battered fried onion ring any day!

  5. Oh, Lorrie! I do things like that. LOL! I have pulled some whoppers, too, and have taken about fifty photographs only to have something inside out or backwards. I'm so glad you confessed. Makes me feel better. ;-)

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  10. I thought I was the only one that did just the same things you said..Life is much better now that my husband (Mr. S) bought me a tripod at best buys, 39.00 wow, no more blury. I just stick it on the top and snap away..Ok I still forgot to light the candles, and when I did, the photos all came out black...trial and error

  11. Hello Lorie~ We all have our blooper moments, before that final shot. my first (and last) tablescape mistake was trying to get a shot of the dinner with the decor(of course) while my poor hubby stood starving...waiting (patiently) for me to capture that perfect shot. Then...finally...handing him his plate that was a cold gelatinous mess. Lesson learned...serve hubs first (while it's hot) and send him toward the TV, then work on the photo. There are times I've purposely left the flatware out, for creative license, when it doesn't match the theme.
You're charming tablescape has a nice ambiance. I no doubt your family will enjoy their dinner at your Fall table.

    Sweet wishes,
    Sara

  12. I didn't even notice the absence of flatware--I do that all of the time because I often set the table and then we each grab our utensils from the drawer (how bad is that!!).I love your tablescape--love the tablecloth---so pretty. Love the rooster plates!!

  13. Oh, I hear you. Hate taking all those photos and then finding out that you did something wrong. The amount of energy it takes to replace everything.......to much.

Great tablescape, love what you came up with.

  15. Lori, great job.
And believe me, we all struggle at times.
I try to reuse and reuse as much as I can.
Tablescaping got me addicted though to pretty table things.

  24. I immediately knew that darn table was bare!
But, I am attentive like that. What? Did you say ANAL retentive?
It looks good, Lucy. I love the rooster dishes and your pretty leafy tablecloth. And lit candles, I am impressed!
Oh, did I mention that the second thing I saw on that table was the bottle of wine?! Why did my eyes gravitate to that? *grin*
    hugs, Ethel
