JERRY'S ANTIQUES, ENDERBY, B.C.

Last May we went to a wedding out of town. While up there my husband and I wandered to nearby towns and had a look around. I have posted some photos from that weekend but somehow I missed these from an antique store we went into.
We were in a town called Enderby and came across Jerry's Antiques and Things. The store was packed to the rafters with interesting and quirky pieces.
My favorite was this antique stove. I can not imagine cooking on one of these although I have cooked on an oil stove with a cast iron top. We used to fry slices of potatoes right on the top without any oil. Boy were we poor. Blackened potatoes will not make it on to any Foodie Friday posts.

The Gurney Tilden company was in Hamilton, Ontario and also in Toronto.

  2. Hi Lori,
Glad you found these pics and posted them. That stove is a beauty! Thanks for including the vintage postcard depicting the factory where it was made ... that place was immense, wasn't it?

  3. That looks like an old telephone switchboard. Does that say $350.00? I like the stove.

  4. I was just going to ask if that was an old switchboard! Great, now all I can think of is Ernestine from laugh in! Thanks for stopping by, glad you liked the playlist. I tend to have somewhat eclectic musical tastes, and not everyone gets it lol. Kathy

  5. I love stores like that. I always seem to find things I can't live without that ends up packed away.

  8. I know that store in Enderby, in fact it is definitely one of my Dad's favorite haunts. He used to be one of the biggest Medelta Pottery collectors in the country. At least until his BIL got involved. LOL.

Great stove, I have these wonderful memories of my Grandma's cookstove, loved it, and would love to have one in my "studio" when I get one.

  9. What a cool stove!! Did you really cook potato slices on one?? We have an old wood burning stove at the lake but I only put a tea kettle on it. If I were daring I'd try to cook something! LOL!! If I were daring I would have done a Foodie Friday by now!!

  10. Looks like an interesting antique shop. Love the stove. My husband had pictures of one like that they had to use up on one of his yearly Canadian fishing trips. He burnt up a pair of good boots drying them on there! DAH!

Yes Sue that is $350 but it is in Canadian dollars so that is about 150 US??? Okay not quite that bad.
Yes Blondie we did cook potato slices on it, no oil, charred. ugh.

You might be correct Lori - I need to size up my "junking" partner BEFORE we go shopping - it

  14. Now that is a cool old stove. Except if it were lit, it would be a hot old stove.

My Mom cooked on a woodstove when a newlywed, said it was great to cook on but murder on the complexion. That's from a Brooklyn-bred girl, plunked into Oregon.

That store looks like fun. I love places like that -- always look on the floor where the forgotten stuff is!

  16. Linda it would probably be cheaper to buy a brand new fancy stove than this oldie. $$$$$
