BRANDO HAD NOTHING ON THESE GUYS

One of my favorite stories is from my brother in law. Back in the 50's he rode motorcycle in a group. The word gang just doesn't fit when I think of him. The towns folk didn't really feel the same way I do because after they rode into this small town in Ontario (sorry I don't know which one) they literally closed up the town. Shutting doors and locking locks.
My sister rode with them often and she is one of the most down to earth non-partying types ever. Not your typical motorcycle momma for sure.
Anyways I think this photo is a real piece of history and culture or counter culture.
My brother in law is the one on the far right kneeling down.
I have a great family.

  1. Hi Lori

I like that they are standing by the Law...
and I agree they don't have that sinister look of the Hell's Angels...

Keep the photos for your kids - they will be priceless then...

    Happy days

  3. Oh Lori, you do have a fun family, and not nuts at all. Bravo to your sister for being a part of what some think is a man's world. I learned how to ride a motercycle (a huge Kawasaki 1000) when I was about 19. Only rode a bit on the backroads with my boyfriend seated behind me, ready to hit the ground with his feet when we stopped since mine didn't reach! lol!!

Great memories. I tend to think I was adventurous, not a hoodlum!! ;-) Great post!!

  4. Do you remember the SONG "Motorcycle Momma!?!"

Hubs, who is my resident expert on all things 70's pop culture, had NEVER HEARD OF IT when I started singing i t around the house a few years ago.

I found it online - - - it was a one hit wonder by a group called Sail Cat.

I just love it - - - think it is such a fun song.

  5. What fun! Just, I'd like to be in a sports car instead of the motorbike. I'm scared of those things :)
